Hamilton Lloyd and Associates - Our client is a leading Pan-African IT service company with presence across 25 countries in Africa. They are leading pan-African partners for major IT companies. Due to internal expansion processes, they have decided to hire a Vblock Solution Architect.

Job Title: VBLOCK Solutions Architect
Location: Lagos

Responsibilities:

• Overall technical architecture, design, and health of the Vblock
• Solutions Architects have the full support of and access to all VCE Professional Services Practices
• Deeply knowledgeable in all areas of the Vblock, expertly versed in VCE best practices
• Solutions Architects enable the customer to maximize the full capabilities of their Vblocks.

Key Attributes

Vblock Implementations
Has undergone rigorous training in all individual components of Vblock system and overall Vblock administration, management and troubleshooting. Built a Vblock 300 system independently and took part in other Vblock logical builds. Mentored various client technical staff as part of residency assignments. Especially, using UIM/P to provision resources from Vblock and UIM/O for monitoring.

Data center Virtualization

• Consolidated and virtualized a large data center using various virtualization technologies including VMware Hypervisor, LPARs, LDOMs, Solaris Zones, Virtual Tape Libraries etc. Used recommended best practices and managed major implementation and migration projects.
• Data center Management and Administration
• Documented operating procedures and best practices for day-to-day and adhoc operations. Responsible for maintaining service levels and troubleshooting performance issues. Mentored junior team members.

Technical Skills
Vblock

• Extensive experience in using UIM/P to provision Vblock resources and configuring UIM/O for monitoring.

VMware

• Over 6 years of practical experience with many VMware data center products including hypervisor (ESX/ESXi), vCenter Server, Lab manager, View, VCB. Successfully managed multiple migration projects using best practices. Built a vast library of generic and specialized VM templates (Windows, Linux, Oracle, SQL Server, MS Exchange, Documentum) for fast on-demand deployment. Took part in design and implementation of vCloud Director, Site Recovery Manager (with Recover Point replication) and vCOps suite.

Storage

• Over 10 years of experience with various storage technologies. Worked with various EMC storage products (block, file, tape). Also has experience with business continuity solutions (backup/recovery, clustering etc.)

Networking
Over 10 years of data center networking experience. Configured and managed Cisco Catalyst switches, routers and firewalls.

Man Specifications

• Must have designed and built large data center using EMC and Cisco products
• Must have vast consulting experience involving solution design and presentation to C-level executives
• Would serve as a Resident Architect focusing on customer specific needs and providing operational advice to accelerate Vblock adaptation.

Qualification/Experience

• B. Degree in Computer science or any related course
• Professional certifications would be of added advantage: EMC Proven Professional, VMware Certified Professional, Cisco Certified Network Associate, ITIL Foundation v3, Prince 2 Foundation, TOGAF 9.
• 18 years professional experience in ICT Field
• Practical experience in wide range of data center technologies and applications
• 6 years implementation and migration experience with VMware technologies
• Must have worked in the following industries: manufacturing, technology, consulting and public sector.
