Job description

• The Site Mechanical Supervisor will be a professional to follow the day-to-day activities on site, making sure the progress is being completed according to approved drawings and approved material submitted.
• This position will use planning, monitoring and controlling processes, to ensure completion of projects on time and according to budget by setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, monitoring and communicating project progress.
• In addition to reading, analyzing and implementing maps, the successful candidate will supervise and coordinate activities of workers/subcontractors installing, repairing, and inspecting field electrical equipment making sure it is compliant with government electrical codes and company standards.

Overall Skills:

• Plumbing : booster pumps, submersible pumps, sanitary fixtures, floor drains, area drains, drainage piping network, water supply piping network, different type of plumbing valves, swimming pool, water treatment plant, sewage treatment plant.
• HVAC : Chillers, pumps, piping network, GI ducting, air handling units, fan coil units, fans, grills diffusers & louvers, variable air volume box, insulation, cladding, volume, smoke & fire dampers, sound attenuators, black steel hood duct, air balancing, water balancing, heating system.
• Fire fighting: FM200, wet sprinkler system, electrical pumps, sprinklers, fire hose cabinets, landing valves, zone control valves, piping network.
• Medical gas: piping network, manifolds, outlets, area control stations, bed head units.
• Electrical systems : lighting points and switches, power outlets, UPS, cables and wires, bus bars, trunking, transformers, LV panel boards, MV panel boards, generators, central battery emergency lighting system, earthing, lighting protection system, cable trays, lighting control.
• Low current systems : intercom, fire alarm, access control, CCTV, TV, telecom, public address, nurse call, clock system, parking management system, building management system.

Responsibilities
General Tasks:

• Plan installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes
• Plan wiring and installation of equipment and fixtures such as motors, generators, as well as control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels
• Test continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components
• Inspect wiring and fixtures for conformance to specifications or local electrical codes.
• Observe functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation,
• or replacement.
• Repair faulty equipment or systems.
• Study schedules and estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
• Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
• Establish or adjust work procedures to meet schedules.
• Recommend measures to improve methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
• Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency.
• Analyze and resolve work problems, or assist workers in solving work problems.
• Estimate, requisition, and inspect materials.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering preferred, or an equivalent combination of education from a well reputed university.
• Strong professional background with a minimum of 10 years of experience in a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in a managerial position in electro-mechanical construction projects.
• Experience in Africa preferred.
• Proven administrative, leadership and management ability in the area of project management, business development and/or tendering.

Skills and Competencies

• Proficient in Autocad. :
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (MS Words, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Proficient in Project Planning tools.
• Must be adept in the use of Internet and E-mail.
• Fluent in English and French
