Job Title: Project Officer Research

Location: Kaduna

Description of Post/Responsibilities

• To lead the implementation of research initiatives in the country office.
• Work with academic partners to ensure effective and smooth implementation of research projects to high quality and within the budget;
• To support the Country office in formulating relevant research questions and identifying projects where research could be integrated:
• To work with the Sightsavers Research team, academic partners and in-country stakeholders to develop high quality research concept notes and proposals;
• To contribute to compiling reports for the research initiatives and annual reports, where applicable.

We are looking for a Project Officer Research to support this programme. The candidate should demonstrate the following: Essential:

• Postgraduate degree in a relevant field (public health: epidemiology: social sciences; health system management or related disciplines);
• Demonstrable experience of designing and delivering research projects in an academic or NGO environment, including writing research protocols: tool development: ethics application; data collection and analysis and the overall research management;
• Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods, including use of appropriate tools and software for data analysis;
• Understanding of the institutional landscape governing the administration of health systems in Nigeria;
• Excellent communication skills in English (both oral and written)

Desirable:

• Extensive project management skills and experience including working with project budgets, forecasts and reports; Demonstrable experience working in international development;
• Experience of grant management and working with donor agencies;
• Experience of writing research grant applications, research reports and peer-reviewed publications.
