The British Council is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced individual to fill the post of Creative Economy Digital Manager.

Job Title: Digital Manager (Creative Economy) Nigeria


Location: Lagos

Purpose of job
To work with the arts and creative economy team in Nigeria to design digital strategy for Nigeria Creative Economy programme, deliver digital programmes, audiences and partnerships which contribute to the British Council’s cultural relations programme through the creative industries.

Context and environment:

The British Council in Nigeria works in three strategic business areas; Arts, English, Education and Society. The post will work directly to Assistant Director Nigeria who is responsible for our work in the Arts and Creative Economy.

Arts and creative economy staff work to develop international opportunities in specific priority areas:

  • Building creative partnerships and collaborations
  • Showcasing the UK in Nigeria and vice versa
  • Developing skills and leadership in the creative sector
  • Harnessing the power of arts in achieving international development goals

We are increasingly exploring ways to use technology to expand reach and engagement for our programme as well as support the artistes and creative entrepreneurs that we work with to use technology more effectively in their work.

Accountabilities, responsibilities and main duties:
Design and Deliver Digital Strategy for Creative Economy projects in Nigeria

  • Designing a digital strategy that reflects the local contexts and bouquet of Creative Economy programmes currently run by British Council in Nigeria
  • Developing relationships for new digital platforms for expansion of access to BC Nigeria creative economy work
  • Developing and managing digital marketing and audience development campaigns including but not limited to management of social media platforms
  • Provide content for communications materials for distribution internally and externally in Nigeria, the region and UK

Provide market intelligence and information, maintain and develop close understanding of and links with the creative sector in Nigeria

  • supporting Assistant Director Nigeria, the post holder will maintain and expand knowledge of the Nigerian creative economy sector and to develop and sustain relationships with key practitioners and organisations, both established and emerging talent;
  • represent our work in arts to external partners and stakeholders;
  • provide advice to UK organisations, artists and professional networks on the international development of their work.

Project Design , Planning and delivery of creative economy projects that have a digital focus

  • managing relationships with project partners, and representing the project to other external stakeholders
  • ensuring projects are marketed to the highest standard in print, digitally and at event.
  • ensuring that all project activity reflects key equal opportunities and diversity issues
  • project planning, monitoring and evaluation, using the following tools:
    • project logic models
    • Gantt charts to reflect planned activity
    • scorecard instruments (audience forecasts and actuals, quality of service questionnaires)

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least three years’ recent professional experience of working a creative sector organisation using digital tools to deliver activity.
  • Understanding of Digital Marketing, technology or media, in particular, SEO, Web development, Social Media, User Experience project
  • Significant and up-to-date knowledge of - and a broad network of contacts in - the Nigerian creative sector.

Remuneration
N3,090,378.97 gross per annum. This includes allowances.
