Ecowas Community Court of Justice: Language Translators & Interpreters - Abuja

Ecowas Community Court of Justice is recruiting for Language Translators.

For the purpose of strengthening the staff capacity of the Community Court of Justice, ECOWAS, applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the following positions.

1.) JOB TITLE: INTERPRETE PORTUGUESE: FRENCH INTO PORTUGUESE (1) CATEGORY P5

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides language interpretation services mainly from French into Portuguese and vice versa during court sessions, meetings, and discussions.
• Assists the Judges and staff members as required for other interpretation servIces;
• Must be canable ofworking in a group ofhighly experience interpreters;

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• A university degree plus a diploma or certificate in interpretation; or full training in an interpretation school with at least eight (8) years post qualification experience in interpretation
• Must be computer literate;
• Legal knowledge would be an advantage

Salary Scale: P5 (UA 30,551.83 – 34,541.51)


2.) JOB TITLE: TRANSLATOR; FRENCH INTO ENGLISH (2) CATEGORY P4

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Reports directly to the Reviser;
• Provides languages translation services mainly from French into English for court processes; Cont’d
• Assists the Judges and staff members as required for other translation servIces

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• A University degree in English/French Language and a well known translation Institute diploma or certificate;
• Seven (7) years professional experience in translation services from French to English or vice versa preferably in an intergovernmental or international organization;
• Excellenfcomputer and speedwriting skills;
• Legal knowledge would be an advantage;

Salary scale: P4 (VA 25,908 – 30,180)


3.) JOB TITLE: TRANSLATOR: ENGLISH INTO FRENCH (2) CATEGORY P4

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Reports directly to the Reviser;
• Provides languages translation services mainly from English into French for court processes;
• Assists the Judges and staff members as required for other translation servIces

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• A University dOegree in English/French Language and a well known translation InstitUte diploma or certificate;
• Seven (7) years professional experience in translation services from English to French or vice versa preferably in an intergovernmental or international organization;
• Excellent computer and speedwriting skills;
• Legal knowledge would be an advantage;

Salary scale P4 (VA 25,908 -30,180)


OTHER CONDITIONS
For candidates to be admitted, they are required to fulfill the following additional conditions.

• The candidate must be a citizen of an ECOWAS Member State;
• The candidate must not be more than fifty (50) years of age at moment of recruitment and must be fluent in and have working knowledge of one of the official languages of the community (English, French, or Portuguese);
•  Knowledge of a second official language will be an added advantage
