Adexen Recruitment Agency is mandated by a leading multinational oil & gas company to recruit a Contract Manager for its operations in Nigeria.

Responsibilities

• The Contracts Manager leads all activities related to contractual, legal, commercial and insurance issues related to contracts with clients including the drafting of contracts and generation of variation orders. He will also be involved in providing contractual advice, leadership and guidance in support to corporate goals, strategy and objectives of the company.
• Review the bid documents and pre-contract tender terms and conditions, to identify commercial and contractual risk of the contract
• Identify project risk and propose risk mitigation measures including qualifications and comments to contract terms and conditions
• Manage contractual, legal, commercial and insurance issues related to contracts, subcontracts and procurement
• Assess the Company’s obligations and liabilities
• Assess the company’s ability to qualify for payment under the contract terms
• Actively participate in tender risk review meetings
• Participate in bid negotiations with clients
• Carry out all activities related to contracts such as drafting, preparation, finalization, negotiation and execution
• Finalise contracts, subcontracts, consultants, non-disclosure, MOU’s, Consortium, joint venture contracts, and other types and forms of agreements
• Discuss the terms with the Supervisor and negotiate terms if required with the various agencies representing the above
• Assist, evaluate and advise project managers on contract conflicts and claims with clients and subcontractor’s
• Verify claims and counterclaims from the legal perspective, study and defend the claims made by subcontractors in coordination with the discipline engineers
• Compliance with contractual requirements as well as regular internal reporting
• Contractual Management of Oil & Gas executed contracts
• Ensuring any rights under the contract are protected and maintained

Requirements

• University degree in Law
• At least 10 years experience in a similar role in the oil & gas sector
• Must be able to demonstrate a good understanding of contract law
• Specialization in EPC, Contract Law and Administration
• Organised and attentive to detail
• Knowledge of Legal and contractual laws governing projects
• Competent in written and oral communication in English
• High proficiency in MS Office applications
• Team oriented and outgoing
• Ability to make decisions and solve problems
