Job Title: Senior Pipleline Engineer
Location: Any City, NG
Job Purpose
To provide in depth discipline expertise to the Project Team concerning all aspects of Pipelines engineering through conceptual, front-end, and detailed engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning and initial operation. As such, safeguarding of design and operational integrity and continuous improvement of existing and future pipeline installations are key responsibilities..
To provide supervision and control of Contractors’ activities in procurement, pipe mill production, construction, commissioning and hand-over of the pipelines projects to the Asset Holder. To ensure seamless compatibility of the pipelines with the overall Integrated Project development system process design, and cost effectiveness in the selection of the equipment, in order to minimize life cycle cost.
Responsibilities
Provide technical expertise, policies, procedures, standards, and technical review capabilities in the area of Pipeline engineering including incident reviews. With the aim of increasing efficiency and realizing reductions in unit technical costs and life cycle costs, identify new technologies applicable to NECONDE/JV surface operations and environment: evaluate these both technically and commercially, and where appreciable opportunities exist, progress and manage deployment in current assets and in new projects.
Participate in NECONDE's drive to enhance its asset integrity both from a design as well as an operational point of view for all projects in the pre-startup phase.
Identify cost effectiveness and innovative technology application.
Design input, Drawing reviews, Hazop and Hazid, Inspection and audits.
Participate in NECONDE and JV sponsored Pipeline engineering -related projects and studies.
To develop the technical specifications for the pipeline systems, including pigging facilities and corrosion protection systems;
Perform the roles of the pipeline systems discipline head in the facility including interfacing with the corporate discipline head, providing inputs to projects and initiation of best practices and new technology for strategic cost leadership such as trending global changes/improvement in safeguarding, instrumentation and control systems.
Assist in managing the development of trainee and young field engineers
Input to tendering, technical & commercial evaluations, and timely placement of the EPC contract with a capable contractor
Ensure high reliability of pipeline systems by developing /implementing appropriate maintenance strategy.
Generate the facility maintenance reference plan (MRP) that ensures an all-embracing and structured maintenance management as an input to the Asset Reference Plan.
Complies with all safety, quality, health and environmental procedures to ensure healthy and safe work environment
Perform other related duties or assignment as directed
Requirements
University graduate or equivalent in a technical discipline (preferably mechanical or metallurgical engineering) with 10 - 15years experience of which at least 3 years are in pipeline engineering and front-end engineering design.
Ability to effectively function in a multi-ethnic, multi-discipline environment.
Conversant with Nigerian, Group and International oil and gas facilities design codes and standards
Expertise in maintenance and inspection of the Fire Detection and Protection Systems including the Safeguarding Systems
Knowledge of Emergency Response Procedures especially the Oil Spill and Gas Leak Response Procedures.
Training on Risk Assessment
Training on Electrical and Instrumentation Theory and Practice
Training on Pipeline integrity management systems
Leading a team.
Understanding the importance of the company’s business and safety requirements.
Demonstrate effective management of Customer/Suppliers/Contractors Relations.
Determine Facility Maintenance Requirements
Broad knowledge and application of Risk Assessment for all construction and operation field tasks.
Ability to seek opportunities to expand and apply technical knowledge, skill and experience in doing own job.
Project Management – Coordinates projects, communicates changes and progress, completes projects on time and budget
Experienced in pipeline integrity management system
Broad knowledge in cathodic protection system design and condition monitoring
Broad knowledge in Pipeline and piping system engineering and design and operations
