We are recruiting to fill the following position:

Job Title: Analyst, Consumer

Location: Lagos
Division/Department: Equity Research

Job Summary

Supports team in all research coverage of the consumer space. Works with models, gathers and analyses market and company specific data, performs sector benchmarking, valuation analysis etc.
Ensures accuracy and timeliness of data, ensures maintenance of models and any databases is up to date. Screens market news and identifies relevant stories that should be highlighted to internal and external customers. Works as part of the global consumer team, contributes with ideas, to sector products and acts as a team player at all times. Ensures internal clients are serviced in a timely manner, responds with a sense of urgency to external customers’ queries.

Responsibilities

Reports to the Head of Research
Supports team in all research coverage of the consumer space.
Works with models, gathers and analyses market and company specific data, performs sector benchmarking, valuation analysis etc.
Ensures accuracy and timeliness of data, ensures maintenance of models and any databases is up to date.
Screens market news and identifies relevant stories that should be highlighted to internal and external customers.
Works as part of the global consumer team, contributes with ideas, to sector products and acts as a team player at all times.
Ensures internal clients are serviced in a timely manner, responds with a sense of urgency to external customers’ queries.
Over time, may be asked to co-cover some stocks under the leadership of the Lead Analyst.
Ensures research remains relevant at all times and maintains commercial focus of own product.
Working in conjunction with the rest of the Consumer team to help grow status and value of our global consumer franchise.
Contributes as appropriate to strategy products as well as non-consumer related products as required
Regular contact with investors, road shows, marketing.
Provides up to date intelligence and feedback on stocks under coverage to the various groups within the company.

Requirements

BSc/ MSc degree from an accredited educational institution in a numerate subject (or Liberal Arts degree if from the US)
MBA or CFA qualification
Bloomberg proficiency
Financial statements familiarity
Clean compliance record
FSA registered
Advanced excel user
Numeracy – ability to work well with numbers and excel spread sheets
In-depth knowledge of valuation techniques
Extensive experience with financial statements
Strong written skills
Strong presentation skills
Strong inter-personal skills
Well spoken
Outstanding numerical skills
Ability to integrate within a strong team spirit environment.
Ability to grow with the organization, fostered by entrepreneurial drive.
Entrepreneurial drive
People management skills and experience
Have the ambition and drive needed to work within a challenging environment.
Have an entrepreneurial approach to research
Work Experience: 3 to 4 years
