Job Position: Security Guard

Roles and Responsibilities

Ensure that the Security Operation runs strictly and accordingly to the prescribed security standards and policies of the company.
Initial registration, investigation and conclusion of incidents & or accidents reported.
Ensure all registers in place in CCTV is up to date and all equipment in excellent working order.
Rotation and mobilization of guards to be monitored.
Instruct guards with regards to certain duties via walkie-talkie or other communication available.
Ensure they are trained in dealing with emergency situations and that it is documented with the company's HR department.
Knowledge of fire systems & equipment as well as location of alarms.
Knows how to deal with crisis situation at facility.
Undergone official training by vendor in CCTV system.
Communicate all irregularities or incidents immediately to his direct management.
Ensure all systems e.g. CCTV, DVR's monitors, access controls are in working order.
Ensure that access to the property, building and assets are properly controlled be it for visitors or employees.
Ensure all incidents and accidents reported to Security Supervisors on timely manner.
Co-ordinate with security guards any updates pertaining to health, safety and environmental matters.
Encourage Safety guards to report any unsafe acts, conditions and hazardous situations on timely manner.
Report immediately any issues related to Fire protection system.
Any HSE non-compliance must be reported to security supervisors immediately.
Appoint security guards at high level risk activities to closely monitor and inform them to report any non-compliance.
Make sure proper PPE's are worn by the employees required for their job.
Develop and maintain good working relationships with the related local authorities e.g. civil defence and local police.
Provide proper attention to any alarms sounded and respond to any emergency on timely manner.
Co-ordinate with civil defense of any faulty alarms sounded and make sure any drills or emergency evacuations are properly communicated with the authorities.
Update and keep a record of all incidents and accidents reported in CCTV room.
Report any unsafe conditions or hazardous situations no matter how small it is.
Initial registration, investigation report and conclusion of incidents & or accidents reported.
Check on regular basis the proper protection of all ground floor windows and openings.
Check on regular basis the key control and storage system for the offices and warehouse areas. Ensure that the registers are up to date.
Operate and monitor all systems within the control center in an efficient manner ensuring that all work is undertaken in compliance with the operating procedures, policies and codes of practice.
Assist in maintaining the company's standards.
Liaise with the local authorities( through the supervisor) or other agencies and members of staff to ensure the appropriate use of system .To include all evidential records and witness statements to a standard acceptable to the rules of evidence.
Record all events and actions taken in a clear, legible and accurate written format. To provide an efficient and courteous radio and telephone answering service and deal efficiently with all enquiries.
Report equipment failure to the shift supervisor to maximize operation of the system.
Maintain a secure system for providing data in accordance with the regulations set up by the management and ensure the security of the control room and equipment is maintained at all times.
Maintain the provision of information required by the security manager and the supervisor to assist the monitoring of the CCTV system and other security systems in accordance with the policy set up by the management and the continuity and admissibility of evidential material.
Support the security Manager and shift supervisor by providing monitoring of the maintenance programmer to ensure full provision of the system.
Be aware of your responsibilities in terms of health and safety, including identifying at your appraisal, appropriate health and safety training.
Make entries pertaining to posting of guards, alarms or incidents and requests made to the CCTV control room.
Ensure that you approach your duties taking into consideration the principles of the best value.
Issue and control Walkie Talkies / Pagers / Guard Tour Readers / earpieces / pagers to the guards as well as the supervisor on duty. Ensure items are clean and in good working order.
Be in control of the fire team and ensure all fire emergencies are properly communicated and co-ordinate with the Safety & Security Manager.
Maintain the CCTV Room area in good order. Smoking / eating or drinking in this area must not be allowed. All suspicious visitors / guests noted on CCTV cameras to be reported to the Security Supervisor and Guards on patrol to ensure that all are safe and secure at all times.
Provide proper attention to all alarms sounded in CCTV and take corrective action in ERT attending such alarms. Ensure all CCTV cameras stay and are on line and that the recordings of images are in order.
Make inspection of areas covered on CCTV and inform the security manager on any irregularities found.
All persons entering CCTV room must be there on official business. CCTV entrance door to always be secured.
Entries in OB to be accurate and time-in and time-out punctually of all security personnel are correct.

Qualifications and Skills

High school, college diploma or junior college is preferred.
Good Command of English.
MS Applications: (Word, Excel & Outlook).
Certified CCTV controller by any establishment or police organization, First Aid training and certified fire-fighting training.
3 years' experience as a CCTV Controller in reputable organization with clear track record is preferable.
