to the award of Professional Diploma and Certificate Programmes in Customary Law and Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Legislative Studies at the Faculty of Law.

Purchase and Return of Completed Application Forms

All applicants should please log on to the University Website at: www.ust.edu.ng and pay into the University Business Account No: 1008135301 of the United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc the sum of Ten Thousand Naira (N10,000.00) only, non-refundable application fees and download the application forms, complete the application forms and submit to the Customary Law Programmes Coordinator at the Faculty of Law (Second floor)

Programmes

Professional Certificate in Customary Law

Eligible Candidates

Candidates for the Professional Certificate Programme shall be members of the Customary Court, Justices of the Peace, interested Traditional Rulers engaged in Customary Law arbitration, dispute settlement and customary arbitration in Nigeria and interested general public.

Duration

The duration for the programme is one (1) year.

Professional Diploma in Customary Law

Eligible Candidates

Candidates for Professional Diploma Programme shall be Chairmen of Customary Court, Registrars of Customary Court of Appeal, interested Legal Practitioners, j Lawyers from the Ministry of Justice and Legal Assistants of Judges of the Customary Court of Appeal. Also, non-lawyers who possess the Professional Certificate in Customary Law are eligible to apply.

Duration

The duration for the programme is one (1) year

Post graduate Diploma in Legislative Studies

Eligible Candidates

Candidates for the Post graduate Diploma in Legislative Studies shall be Legislators, Local Government Chairmen and Councilors. Other Public Office Holders and interested members of the General Public are eligible to apply.

Duration

The duration for the programme is one (1) year.

Requirements

Candidates for the Professional Certificate shall possess School Certificate or Its equivalent with credit in English Language and credits in 3 (three) other relevant subjects.
Candidates for the Professional Diploma shall possess Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree or Certificate in Customary Law.
Candidates applying for Post graduate Diploma in Legislative Studies shall possess a first degree from any recognized University, while candidates that possess Higher National Diploma (HND) from a recognized institution may also apply. The duration for the programme is one (1) year.

Application Closing Date
31st December, 2013

Closing and Commencement Date
Successful candidates shall commence lectures on 10th January, 2014
