Please not that I support the system. But there is a reason for seeking for graduates with good grades. One should always prove himself at all times so one can be called upon. There is need to create a seive. If you're as good as or better than 2- 1 students (which is very possible) you shouldn't be with a 2-2

Let seek out quality materials from the bulks of our graduate.if one graduate with 2.1 it doest not mean your grade is better a graduates of 2.2.what matters most is proving your worth out there on the field.my advice is anybody can apply, only that the academic position is beyound 2.1,publish papers and professional bodies membership are always an advantages, most especially, publis papers in article journals not 2.1 or 2.2 and one need God's help.goodluck to all applicants.

Guys, pls our comments should portray that we are learned. Federal Universities employ on the principle of federal character. No doubt that sectionalism does not play in which ought not to be. I have been a victim at Kashere. For guys with 2.2, there is no point of comparing yourselves with holders of 2.1. Academic employment has laid down principles by NUC. If you have a 2.2 that is up to 3.0 CGPA, i implore you to go for MSc otherwise, you can't have the position of GA. And if you opt for MSc, do yourself good and study to show yourself worthy by making at least 4.0 CGPA so as to secure PhD admission if you choose the path of academics.

There is no point bragging with a 2.1 degree. Believe me, i taught a first class guy how to design a simple retaining wall and how to check for failures due to overturning and sliding. What baffled me the most was that this first class guy didn't know what a shear link is in reinforced concrete, not to talk of designing one himself. (Don't mind the jargon, civil engineers will know what i am saying).
You see, some people get good results but through the back door. I bet you, not every first class holder is better than every 2.1 holder. similarly, not every 2.1 graduate is better than every other 2.2 graduate. This is a hard fact. That i graduated with a 2.2 does not in any way mean all 2.1 graduates are better than me, NO! Afterall, my 2.2 was only a child of "circumstance and condition". If you doubt me, you 2.1 and first class people, challenge me to the field and i will BEAT you silly. In any case, i will meet you there. Keep on going, i am coming. Though behind, i am going to catch up with you and POSSIBLY overtake you.
