Position Description
Management and control of the banks taxation affairs
Key result areas:
Taxation
Manage compliance with tax law in Stanbic IBTC Group and all tax aspects including, corporate tax transfer pricing, withholding taxes, indirect taxes, PAYE and tax planning.
Monitor tax compliance within the Group.
Identification and evaluation of taxation risks within the Group.
Implementation of systems and processes to monitor and mitigate identified taxation risks.
Preparation of monthly and annual taxation computations and returns.
New and existing product evaluation to determine taxation impact.
Custodian of Group transfer pricing policy, responsible for ensuring that policy is up to date and appropriate agreements and approvals are in place to ensure compliance
Optimisation of Group taxation expense, by identifying areas of tax Savings
Manage the relationship and participate in selection of external taxation consultants
Analysing DTA’s with the aim of effectively using them on cross- border transactions
Improve taxation knowledge within the Group through communication and tax training where appropriate. Copied from: www.hotnigerianjobs.com
Required Skills and Qualifications
Qualifications
B.Sc (Accounting/Finance)
ICAN or CIMA
Postgraduate diploma or certificate in taxation (an advantage)
Experience
Minimum of 6 years experience in financial management position
Knowledge of Nigerian Banking regulations.
Understanding of South African Banking regulations will be an added advantage.
Deep understanding and knowledge of Nigerian State and federal taxation requirements
Understanding of IFRS
Ability to review, analyse and implement taxation control processes
Working knowledge of accounting software. (Knowledge of SAP or Equinox will be an added advantage.)
Required Competencies
An appreciation and a good understanding of macro economics and external factors affecting the business strategies adopted, and market serviced by SIBTC
Ability to analyse and evaluate data for acceptability and correctness
Analytical mind with strong orientation to financial analysis
Ability and experience in communicating with all levels of management regarding management information needs
Good inter personal skills required in liaising with people at different levels within and outside the bank.
Strong report writing skills.
Dynamic self- starter with a personal ambition to succeed
Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
A person of high integrity.
