The Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) was established in 1961, with the aim of providing a nursery of ideas on what direction Nigeria should take on international affairs. Since inception, the Institute has been organising Conferences, Roundtables and Lectures. These are aimed at addressing current foreign policy issues and anticipating others still on the horizon.

ABOUT THE NIGERIAN INSTITUTE OF INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS - NIIA 

Mission Statement
To provide Nigeria with a window to the world, to promote the Understanding of international affairs, and to contribute ideas and informed input into Nigeria’s foreign policy process.

Vision Statement
A Center of Excellence in academic, policy and applied research in International relations. The SERVICOM Unit shall evaluate progress in the pursuance of this goal within the period of every two years.

The Structure of the NIIA
The administration of the Institute is organized at two levels:
  1. The Governing Council, which comprises eminent Nigerians from the academia.\
  2. The Management Committee is chaired by the Director-General with the Directors of Research, Library, and Administration as members.
The Departments
There are three statutory departments:
  1. Research and Studies,
  2. Library and Documentation and
  3. Administration and Finance.
Research and Studies Department is the hub of the scientific study and analysis of international affairs. The academic staff of the department are designated as Research Fellows specialised in various fields of International Relations. There are five divisions, namely, International Politics, International Economic Relations, International Law and Organization, Security and Strategic Studies, and Cooperation and Integration in Africa. Each division is chaired by a senior fellow.

Library and Documentation Services Department is the resource centre of the Institute. It is supervised by a Director, who is a professional librarian, and supported by other technical staff. Over the years the Institute has established a library whose information resources have become a significant national asset, serving not only the needs of researchers of the Institute but also of other scholars and students from all parts of the world. It has a collection of over 700,000 volumes in international relations. It is also a depository of documents, publications and treaties of the Federal Government of Nigeria, the Economic Community of West African States, the African Union, and the United Nations and its agencies

Administration and Finance Department oversees the administration and financial matters of the Institute.

I can't but continue laughing.Unemployment is not helping d situation in dis country.It should be noted dat d position is not meant for First Degree holder coupled with d fact dat dis is not NIIA recruitment site.I expected u guys using dis platform 2 click and view d details.NIIA doesn't recruit jst any discipline but international rlatn,Pol.sci,Foreign affair and like.I dnt think Engr Stephen and his cohort applicants av d idea of wot d instruments of foreign policy are let alone applying for any post.Lol
