News: Immigration Test: Newly Constituted Presidential Committee To Start Work Soon - NIS

Posted on Mon 31st Mar, 2014 - hotnigerianjobs.com --- (41 comments)

NIS - Following the tragic test carried out by the Nigeria Immigration Service penultimate Saturday, the Presidential Committee appointed to assist in conducting a fresh recruitment exercise is set to begin work.

This was confirmed by the Chairperson of the Committee and Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission, Deaconess Joan Ayo while briefing newsmen on the activities lined up by the Commission to celebrate its 60th anniversary.

The committee was put in place recently by President Goodluck Jonathan to take over the recruitment immigration exercise earlier conducted by the Ministry of Interior in collaboration with the Immigration service, which led to death of some youths.

Answering questions from journalists at the weekend, Deaconess Ayo said she would soon consult other members of the Committee before deciding on what step to take next.

"I just got my official notice two days ago. I am going to call all my members into a meeting very soon; the aftermath of the meeting Will enable me know when and how we are going to conduct a free and acceptable recruitment exercise for the service."

Earlier in her speech at the occasion, the FCSC Chairman had stated that section 158 of the amended 1999 Constitution granted the Commission independent powers to "exercise its powers "to make appointments or for disciplinary control over persons which shall not be subject to the direction or control of any other authority or person." She further declared that the vision of the Commission is "to ensure an efficient civil service that is patriotic, highly cultured and committed to the sustainable development of Nigeria."

According to her, "The mission statement of the Commission is to apply existing rules and regulations through collaboration and innovation within the frame work of our core values, to discharge with cost effectiveness our mandate of recruitment, promotion and discipline."

She further stated that the Commission deserved to celebrate its achievements over the years, while also reflecting soberly. According to her: "We need to also reflect on areas where we did things wrongly and consider how to make amends".

A programme of activities for the celebration shows that there would be a Muslim Jumat prayer today, which would be led by Vice-President Namadi Sambo.

My pain about all paramilitary recruitment Nigeria is just but a confusing question: Why must government collect money from unemployed graduates before they will get employed to any of these. This is called extortion. Exploiting from the poor and enriching the rich. The blood of those that died in the last recruitment exercise will still hunt u ppl all ur families down. After being given slots of candidates, u still go ahead to extort from the poor when u no very well that they have 0.5% of getting the job. God will judge u all. I just pray no one looses his/her life in this coming one.

Why should fed govt give 3 slots to the deceased families. May be the deceased managed and struggled to graduate without any help from their so called families and govt will now give them an opportunity and these families might have worked against the deceased education and welfare. Any way,. I hope another fee will not be charged from those that have applied and paid before. Also, let the test venue not be at Abuja. Those that applied before are supposed to be considered.

In the case of discreminating against those that the think have no required higth to serve in the commision. Are they no longer nigerians? Why must some group make others look inferior and rejected because of natural physical appearance. Pls give everybody that applied a chance to participate in the examm, we all need to be employed. And let the test for all the qualification should not be conducted in one day to avoid another death of unemployed Nigerians

Plz, help ask Deaconess Ayo what happend to the result and subsequent recruitment exam into the ministries of Education and labour and productivity conducted in 2012 with the aid of the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria ASCON. My point is that the rescheduled NIS exam would still evaporate like previous exams conducted by FCSC under HER. same old cycle

unemployment in nigeria will be reduced if there is steady power supply and control of corruption from every govt office down to the masses. I have a small business but no electronic metre. they asked me to fill N2000 form and wait until the I am told to pay for the metre and wait again until i receive the metre. let traders have rights to sell and market this metre. Thanks

1)insecurity

The so called committee is very very lazy. When will the recruitment start?
They are waiting 4 us to 4get the exercise so that they can share it amongs themselves but we will nt 4get.
It is preferable 2 have this recruitment conducted by the NIS Board 4 transparency and equity than FCSC since FCSC is highly corrupt as they will soon share it amongs Senators, etc and the remaining must be given out with N400,000 and above for men and N300,000 + centre or toto or otu or oboo or vagina.
We don't need Electricity, and railway rather what we need is job to get money. An unemployed and hungry person can never eat Electricity or rail road
