Job Title: Researcher / Data Analyst

Job Summary:
The Researcher / Data Analyst will manage health data received by eHealth Systems Africa Ltd. Reporting to the Executive Director (ED), the Researcher / Data Analyst will play a key role in developing and implementing a framework of evaluation to assess progress being made towards the organization’s goals, and in helping the organization build capacity to use evaluation in strategy and decision processes. They will assist with the design, execution, analysis, recommendation development, and reporting of projects for global partners and clients, and will manage database files. Assists with grant writing and grant / contract management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.

• Performs qualitative and/or quantitative research, analysis, and report development to enable strategic decision-making at all phases of service/product development and launch.
• Analyses data and develop solutions to transform that data to solutions for healthcare research, delivering solutions on time and within budget.
• Leads discussions with partners, clients, team members and Executive Management to understand business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions.
• Interprets customer needs to identify solutions to non-routine requests. Assures solutions are aligned with business and IT strategies and complies with the organization's architectural standards.
• Supports project teams and undertakes tasks relevant to both health economics and pricing/ market access disciplines.
• Conducts primary research to evaluate market perceptions of new and existing services/ products, including health economic endpoints, product claims, pricing, positioning, etc. and inform strategic recommendations.
• Performs literature reviews and undertakes secondary research initiatives including the retrieval and analysis of data, competitive product pipeline information, epidemiology trends, etc.
• Develops health economic models to perform cost-effectiveness and budget impact analyses
• Develops health related communications, including dossiers, abstracts, manuscripts, posters, etc.
• Implements retrospective analyses through the design, collection and statistical analysis (using statistical software) of databases
• Summarizes, synthesizes, and interprets data including disease-specific and pharmaceutical product research
• Manages database files, keeping information up to date
• Identifies problematic areas and conducts research to determine the best course of action to correct the data
• Collects and maintains up-to-date research on potential grant making organizations and grant/contract opportunities. Writes grants. Strategically manages components of the data management processes. Monitors regulatory compliance. Works internally with staff to structure processes and requirements for grant management.

Education/Experience

• Bachelor’s degree from college or university with an emphasis in economics, statistics, engineering, public health, public policy, health sciences, health communications, business or marketing required.
• An advanced degree in a scientific discipline, public health, business administration, or relevant area is preferred.
• Three years prior experience in research and data analytics, preferably within healthcare, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to work with multiple areas within organization to get business objectives, data requirements etc.
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and deliver within tight timelines while being flexible in adapting to new roles.
• Ability to perform analysis with little/no direction, proactively identify potential issues in the data and conduct research to determine the best course of action to correct the data.

Certifications and Licenses

• Statistical analysis certification is preferred
• First Aid and Health & Safety qualifications desirable

Computer Skills

• Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office Suite, (including Excel).
• Proficiency working within specialized statistical software such as SPSS, STATA, or 'R' is preferred
• Demonstrated expertise in writing and analyzing complex SQL queries is required

Language Ability

• English is the spoken and written language.
• Ability to read, analyse, proof and edit documents, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or government regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees and the general public.
• Math Ability
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
• Reasoning Ability
• Ability to interpret data that is not well defined or documented and develop recommendations based on findings.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
