Job Title: Controller, Payroll & Statutory
Location: Lagos
Purpose:
To take care of entire payroll of the organization
To take care of all statutory issues of the organization
Principal Accountabilities

Must have dealt with payroll earlier
Knowledge of payroll procedures, statutory deductions, allowances and reliefs
Knowledge about pension funds,
PC expert , must have good knowledge of excel
Time oriented
Process and Details oriented
Knowledge of some payroll software
Excellent communicator with all Management and Staff Levels
Knowledge of tax laws and implementation
Excellent communication and relationship with Vendors, Suppliers and Customers
Knowledge of statutory procedures as it relates to vendors, suppliers and customers.
Work/Business Contacts And Authority:
(IPE Factor: Communication)
Internal: All Staff
External: Tax Bodies, Banks & other port users where the relationship can sometimes be divergent due to payment problems in which case this would normally be escalated for resolution.
Vendors and Suppliers where the relationship is on WHT deduction from their payment and the collection of their credit notes from the relevant bodies on the deduction that was remitted.
Customers where the relationship of collecting our WHT credits notes from the deduction they took from our payments which has been remitted to the relevant government body.
Relevant Tax Bodies for all statutory payments.
Reporting and Scope:

The position reports directly to the Finance Manager
Requires a college degree in accounting, business management, or other related discipline
Requires general accounting experience, preferably in a position that has handled payroll.
Requires a general understanding of accounting principles and transactions.
Requires a thorough knowledge and understanding of payroll processing and administration.
Requires the ability to interpret applicable company policies and procedures and labour law, applying them consistently and without discrimination.
Must have a general understanding of tax, social security & other laws & their impact of payroll processing
Requires sufficient understanding of various accounting concepts in order to review and interpret accounting data.
Requires a good understanding of general office procedures and established policies relating to the position.
Must be able to use HRIS/Payroll and financial database software.
Requires good verbal and written communications skills, in addition to effective interpersonal skills.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality of company private information, especially salary information.
Should have general understanding of tax laws and their impact on vendors and suppliers
Should have a general understanding of tax laws and their impact on customers
