Job Title: Generator Technician

Location: Lagos

Job Description:
The following duties are generic and may differ depending on the requirement of the site. Reporting to the sector Technician or head of operations and working within the frame work of the Technician section, the Generator Technician shall be responsible for the following duties:

• Perform all tasks related to generator installations in the company; Liaise frequently with the Sector Head /Sales and Logistics Officer /Help Desk/Contract Administrator
• Install new generators , including allied works and carry out testing and commissioning,
• Maintaining existing system, coordinate the Generator installations/works
• Ensure that the generator installation/ work meet the safety standards in accordance with international codes and regulations
• Install large capacity generator to form complete power generating stations for clients, including identifying sites and advising on platforms and generator houses in various locations of company site,
• Carry out scheduled routine maintenance, emergency repairs and overhauling of generators (static/ mobile), including the installation of auxiliary fuel systems, such as main tanks ,transfer pump and pit works with proper upkeep of serviced generators
• Analyze and correct distortions on loads, Balance the loading on all three phases of three phase generator,
• Trouble- shoot causes of load imbalance and provide solution and causes of generator breakdown with trenched understanding of possible solution,
• Check correct requirement of electrical loads for proper sizing of generators,
• Perform surveys and prepare technical reports, drawing and materials quantities, design simple installations, prepare materials specifications for the purpose of raising requisitions for generator servicing, installation or repairs
• Provide list of parts for all company generators in various sites, alternators, and control panels as well as tools and equipment well in advance for carrying out your duties without any flimsy excuses of having no correct tools to perform a particular task.
• Monitor the Company Tools /Equipment and spare parts inventory and ensure the use of spare parts in most productive manner.
• Always diagnose each breakdown to ascertain if Electro-mechanical expert advice on generator works is required and ensure usual electrical test is performed using the correct test meter.
• Provide instruction on end- user care and servicing of generator. Always seek information from the company Help Desk/ Contract Administrator to follow up with client generator servicing due date
• Ensure that generators on site for event purposes are well monitored and controlled; ensure adequate fueling, operation and cable connections always.
• Maintain a high level of competence in understanding generator user’s manual, proper operation, upkeep, general maintenance, maintaining log books and record keeping, cleaning and replacing battery terminals.
• Proper representation of the company at site and maintaining good relationship with clients, teamwork, ability to establish priorities and to plan, coordinate and monitor work plan; customers delight in mind.
