Nigerian College of Optometrists - The government regulatory body for the profession of Optometry and Dispensing Optics was brought to life with the signing of Decree No. 34 of 1989 by the Ibrahim Babangida administration when Prince Bola Ajibola was Attorney General/Minister of Justice and Professor Olikoye Ransome-Kuti; Minister of health.
Nigerian College of Optometrists wishes to inform all qualified Doctors of Optometry, wishing to undertake a minimum of 4-year full time postgraduate Residency programme leading to the award of Fellowship of the College in any of the specialties, that the Primary Examinations for Admission into any of the faculties is as follows:
Examinations will be taken for the following faculties Specialties:
a.) Primary Care Optometry
b.) Public Health Optometry
c.) Cornea and Contact Lens Practice
d.) Ocular Health
e.) Rehabilitative Optometry and Low Vision Care
f.) Paediatric Optometry
g.) Orthoptics

Qualification
i.) A degree of O.D (Doctor of Optometry) from an accredited institution by the Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Registration Board of Nigeria (ODORBN)
ii.) A 3 year Post NYSC clinical experience
iii.) Must be in good Standing with ODORBN
