Job Descriptions
As a Production Engineer you will be responsible for maximizing production and profitability of oil and gas properties by analysing associated costs and estimating the production capabilities and economic value of wells.
The focus will be on creating assets / further developing existing assets, implementing development plans with field engineers and managing assets to maximize profitability.
The Engineer will serve as a project leader on assignments requiring a relatively broad knowledge of production engineering and assist in training less experienced Engineers and technicians.
Essential Responsibilities/Duties
Analyze producing properties for profitability and recommend operational improvements
Optimize production from new wells, determining if intervention is needed, when and how it should be performed, and by designing and installing the initial artificial lift application
Design and optimize artificial lift systems
Work closely with reservoir engineers and geologists to maximize the value of assigned assets
Monitor daily production volumes for discrepancies and opportunities
Assist the Asset Team and/or technical professionals with project planning and AFE generation for new operated wells
Participate with the facilities engineers, operation engineers, technical staff in the modelling of the production facilities and wells
Provide detailed input to well operations staff on all aspects of well completion design
Ensure facilities and infrastructure are ready and new wells are connected in a timely manner to maximize revenue
Prepare written intervention procedures and supervise execution
Implement projects and studies. Gather data to help reservoir engineering, geology and geophysical disciplines understand the resource
Monitor competitor activity and well performance to obtain competitive advantage and manage Non-Op capital commitments
On call support, including nights and weekends may be required for field locations
Conduct business with the highest ethical standards; demonstrate decision-making skills that ensure the safety of all persons associated with SM facilities

Experience/Education
B.Sc Degree in Petroleum, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering is required
Minimum of 8 years of applicable engineering experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Proficient level of skill in Microsoft Office
Excel spreadsheet based analysis, Wellview and other commonly used industry specific software
Practical application and comprehensive understanding of general completions procedures and production operations, including but not limited to, hydraulic fracture stimulation design for vertical and horizontal well completions
Comprehensive knowledge of and experience with different stimulation techniques and artificial lift methods
Ability to identify and meet operational KPI's and efficiency metrics
Solid understanding of engineering economic evaluations
Thorough knowledge of environment, health and safety regulations, including H2S safety
Driven, organized and detail oriented
Strong project management skills and the ability to advance multiple projects simultaneously; takes a multi-disciplinary approach to projects
Ability to lead and collaborate effectively in a team environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Applies specialized knowledge in the completion of projects
Actively transfer knowledge to colleagues and management
