FG Promises 15 Million Jobs by 2015

Posted on Tue 08th May, 2012 - hotnigerianjobs.com --- (21 comments)

The Federal Government will create 3 to 5 million jobs by 2015 said Mr Labaran Maku, Minister of Information and Communications. The minister said this on Friday shortly after the foundation laying ceremony of the new Federal Secretariat complex in Lafia.
He said that the move was part of the federal government's commitment to address unemployment and youth restiveness in the country.
Maku said the government would do everything humanly possible to create conducive environment for the private sector to thrive, so as to augment the government's effort in job creation.
He said job creation was a cardinal programme of the administration's Transformation Agenda, which seeks to significantly improve the standard of living of Nigerians.
The minister described the current security situation in the country as "regrettable", saying the crisis has the capacity to drag the Northern region further backward.

He condemned the spate of bombings and killings of innocent Nigerians and urged the perpetrators to stop the carnage.
The minister promised that the government would continue to protect the lives of all law abiding citizens.
Maku, who described peace as a tool for national development, said the government would not relent in its effort to give Nigerians the much needed peace and unity to move the country forward.

He admonished leaders at all levels to pray for the peace and unity of the country.
"It is the responsibility of the leaders to give to the people the much needed peace; it is non negotiable," he said. The minister appealed to Gov. Umar Al-Makura to shun party sentiments and give the people of the state the much needed dividends of democracy.
