Global Profilers is a Recruitment & HR Services firm specialized in recruitment in Africa; we are currently looking for a Group Supply Chain Executive for our client who is a Multinational FMCG Organization.
Job Title: Group Supply Chain Executive
The individual will develop and coordinate the implementation of strategies and procedures to deliver a competitive advantage to operating businesses in respect of Supply Chain deliverables, namely: legal compliance, procurement, NDP/R&D, quality assurance, manufacturing and in-and outbound logistics.
Responsibilities by Function
Group Supply Chain Strategy
A thorough understanding of operating company strategies, to assist in identifying areas in which the supply chain can deliver competitive advantage.
Analyse global trends, focussing on micro economic issues within specific global geographies to determine most competitive sourcing and supply channels.
Assisting each operating companies Supply Chain to formulate an appropriate strategy to support business objectives
Adaptation of our current sourcing / manufacturing/logistics models to ensure competitive advantage over competitors in defined markets.
Delivery of group synergies to operating companies which enhance profitability.
Ensuring that best practices are implemented by operating companies to maximise Supply Chain efficiencies.
Ensuring that future group needs in terms of skilled and experienced Supply Chain managers are met.
Draw up and compare short term versus long term objectives.
Determine who the organization partners with, in which areas, on which products and what the legal nature of such partner relationships are.
Make recommendations to the Executive in support of significant capital investment projects, arising in each business
Group Compliance with Legislation
Develop legal compliance frameworks and processes in respect of operating factories and distribution centres. Assist and advise business teams in compliance action plans.
Forge relationships with appropriate Legislative bodies.
Identify potential opportunities to influence legislation in group interests, represent the group on appropriate forums, formulate and deliver submissions.
Identify changes in legislation, and ensure proactive conformance / compliance to such legislation by Group operating companies.
Consolidate group compliance reports to the Brands Executive and other defined parties.

Representation on forums e.g. CGSA

Government bodies liaison and networks
Determine which Legislative bodies should be targeted and what would be the most appropriate methods to interact with this body.
Formulate and present evidence to support the companies’ submissions to legislating bodies.
Develop appropriate motivations to operating companies including the cost of implementation of such legislation.
Best Practice and Group Procedures
Exercises across different Supply Chains within the Group, to determine relevant competitiveness focusing on the following areas: cost, quality, working capital, service levels and corporate governance compliance.
Keep abreast of global trends and new developments in Supply Chain management.
Evaluate deviations to best practice for operational improvement focus. Recommend new processes and/or procedures.
Ensure an updated set of records of procedures and best practices for the total Supply Chain.
Continuous Improvement and best practices established, monitored and evaluated
Assist operational Supply Chain managers with the implementation of new processes and procedures.
Identify best practices within the organization and persuasively illustrate such practices to non conforming Supply Chain and suggesting improvement initiatives that will best optimise operations.
Determine global trends that will enhance or improve the organization’s Supply Chain performance and the justification or benefit which will be derived (as and when required).
Group Asset Management
Coordinating and vetting the development of a group facilities plan aimed at increasing output in line with demand forecasts, and replacement of existing assets based on life cycle costing methodologies.
Vetting significant capital applications and PIR and formulate a recommendation to the Brands Executive prior to project approval to ensure that appropriate equipment, design and planning is aligned top best practice.
Develop and roll out an overall group equipment maintenance strategy and best practice.
Identify group expertise through the establishment of “Group Centres of Excellence” as support to group businesses.
Publish a directory of Group Centres of Excellence and identify areas of potential exposure through a lack of group expertise.
Ensure that Supply chain outputs have the capacity and capability to meet the demand plan and the policies and procedures are well entrenched across the supply chain in all Businesses.
Determine the appropriate investment level for the group (continuously).
Determine the financial implications and benefits of the CAPEX in terms of ROI.
Determine elements should be included in the group maintenance strategy (annually) and the maintenance system which bests suits the needs of the organizations manufacturing (ad hoc).
Determine the centres of excellence necessary for support of assets and the required expertise to standard (annually), what policies and procedures are required and how they are best drafted taking into consideration operating companies need balanced with governance requirements.
Global NPD/R&D and Quality
Develop group R&D/NDP and quality assurance strategies aimed at innovation, enhancing quality and service level competitiveness.
Initially identify opportunities in the group to maximize on R&D, NDP and quality synergies.
Ability to set-up cross-functional teams that deliver objectives.
Optimize quality assurance and control and compliance synergies
Determine opportunities that exist within the group to maximise synergies and changes that would be beneficial to current practices as well as the positive effect each business would derive
Global Procurement
Develop group purchasing strategies aimed at reducing cost, enhancing quality and service level competitiveness.
Initially identify opportunities in the group to maximise procurement and logistics synergies through exploiting economies of scale.
Develop further group opportunities through synergy. Motivate, sell and implement.
Ensure adherence to procurement policies – i.e., request for information (RFI), request for proposal (RFP) and Tender evaluations. Lead group initiatives
People Development
Identify, develop and implement a competency framework for business Supply Chain Executives.
Manage the talent pool of Business Supply Chain Executives across the organisation.
Qualification and Experience
First Degree / Higher Diploma,
MBA or relevant post-graduate studies would be advantageous
At least 10 years of experience in a Technical / Operational role in a food manufacturing environment, 5 years of which should be at a senior management role.
