Role Summary/Purpose

As a Field Service Engineer you will be based at our regional office supporting new and existing marine customers.
Field service work will include service, commissioning, trouble-shooting, maintenance, technical advice and training customers on GE equipment on-board ships or on site.
The field service work will take place in shipyards, at ports, or offshore or in LNG Plants.

Essential Responsibilities

Perform on-site installation of electrical systems and equipment; perform ongoing preventive maintenance, repair and calibration after installation.
Respond to requests for emergency repairs and services to troublesome equipment.
Provide technical instruction and assistance to customer representatives regarding installation, operation, calibration, repair and maintenance at customer's sites.
Coordinate technical advice and counselling as agreed upon with GE remote Center of Excellence assistance team.
Develop and further expand technical knowledge and expertise, currently recognized industry standards for engineering ability.
Maintain knowledge of applicable product line warranties, and accomplish effective warranty administration.
Plan, prepare and/or instruct both internal and external training programs as required, to impart and perpetuate field engineering and/or product knowledge in area of specialization.
Perform administrative functions; such as writing technical reports, ordering materials, securing quotations, preparing job status reports, reports to customers, time sheet and expense sheets on a complete timely, and thorough basis.
Maintain knowledge of the report system to the extent required for timely and accurate input of field information necessary.
Provide leadership and technical direction to skilled labor performing work on customer sites.
Maintain strong safety mindset to assure the executed work reflects the technical requirements within GE safety standards.
Coordinate EHS aspects on site.
Knowledge to troubleshoot and provide routine maintenance checkout for wide range of equipment vintage.
Prepare timely and accurate technical reports for customer records and a reference for future outages.
Advise on spare parts, modernization and upgrades on GE Equipment

Qualifications/Requirements

Electrical Degree from an accredited university or similar technical qualification with good knowledge on MV drives and motors, and with the ability to provide advice on other GE Equipment.
Willingness and ability to travel up to 80% of the time (including overseas), is available to respond to out-of-hours calls.
Acts as Duty Engineer when required to receive out-of-hours calls and determines course of action.
Must have a valid driver's license.
A valid NYSC discharge or exemption certificate will be required.
Must have valid authorization to work full-time without any restriction in Nigeria

Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Desired Characteristics:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering is preferred
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Proven analytical and quality improvement ability
Able to interface at all levels of the organization both internally and externally

I am Looking for a Challenging career in a fast placed Telecommunications that will put my Experience and Talents to the test.
I am a very motivated Professional, with strong Interpersonal and Communication skills, and I thrive under Pressure. I have 08 years' experience in Telecom Field Operations and I feel that my dynamic personality and Knowledge would be a Great asset to any Telecom Company. As an Engineer of the Telecom field I was able to challenge all of the Examinations Necessary to attain my Diploma for the program, and this along with my Experience has allowed me to Apply to write the Bachelor in Software & Engineering examinations at the Apr 2004 sitting.
I hope to have completed all the steps necessary for licensure as a Registered Technician before the end of 2013. I am in Hyderabad Pakistan, but am willing to relocate anywhere in world, except Quebec, within 06 days of a firm offer.

Pls Dont Come Here and tell your people to sto comming to nigeria to steal our Jobs! Ur people are too much here and we have no jobs to go round for us. I graduated since 1999 with good grades in electronics from one of nigeria's bst unis but hav never gotten a job becuse of your people are all grabing the telecoms job wit just diploma and u would see a nigerian wit masters calling dem yes sir yes boss. Pls stay there! Pls pass this to others
