Description
The Social, Urban, Rural, and Resilience Global Practice works with clients to build inclusive resilient, sustainable, and prosperous territories, cities, and communities. Among the practice's important service areas are social sustainability, disaster risk management, community-driven development, land tenure policy and administration, urban planning and land use management, social inclusion, violence and conflict prevention, tourism, and heritage.
Selection Criteria
    - Demonstrated experience in position of increasing complexity and responsibility in the following thematic areas: urban development, disaster risk management, and social development, including climate change.
 
    - Advanced Degree (Masters or PhD) in a relevant field; ideally Urban Planning, Economics, Architecture, Political Science, Public Policy, Mathematics, Engineering, Demography, Sociology, Geography, Finance or a related discipline.
 
    - Candidate must have at least 8 years experience.
 
    - Expertise in one or more of the following areas:
    
        - Developing green, inclusive and resilient cities.
 
        - Social inclusion, ensuring compliance with social safeguards.
 
        - Urban-rural development, urban and regional planning, urban poverty, rural to urban migration, and urban governance.
 
        - Disaster risk management and disaster preparedness.
 
        - Resilient reconstruction (including post-disaster damage and loss assessment).
 
        - Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and geo-spatial analysis desirable.
 
    
     
    - Experience at international financial institutions, aid agencies and/or international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) is a bonus.
 
    - Ideal candidates for this position must have a demonstrated  capacity for strategic thinking, the ability to conduct dialogue on  relevant development policies and priorities, and be fluent in English  with very good writing and communication skills.
