News: No More N5000 Stipend For Unemployed Youths - Buhari Clears the Air

Posted on Mon 29th Feb, 2016 - hotnigerianjobs.com --- (4 comments)

The President has finally cleared the air concerning the controversial N5000 stipend his party had earlier promised unemployed youths in their campaign manifesto.

In what appears to be a major U-turn from what his campaign promises before the 2015 presidential election, president Mohammadu Buhari has said he would not pay the N5000 stipend he promised to unemployed youth in the country.

The president made the remarks at the weekend while on the visit in Middle East. He said it was wise to use a collation of the funds to put up infrastructures and empower them through agriculture for than to give out monies.

He said: “This largesse N5,000 for the unemployed, I have got a slightly different priority. I would rather do the infrastructure, the school and correct them and empower agriculture, mining so that every able bodied person can go and get work instead of giving 5,000 to those who don’t work.”

It will be recalled that All Progressives Congress, APC had during its campaign supported the promise of paying N5,000 as monthly stipend to the most vulnerable in the country.

It is a wise decision in every sense, if the reason for not fulfilling this promise will be tenaciously adhered to and actualized..."Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you feed him for a life time". I support Buhari any time...Let's let him work...from the onset I knew it wasn't going be an easy job fixing Nigeria, but let's be patient...we are all on the low as a nation, but we will rise...My problem is with those crack-heads in the senate!

This is highly sad. It show we have men of empty promises as leaders. They never find it difficult to embezzle billions of dollars, but to pay unemployed graduates just 5000 naira is a huge problem to them. Nigerians. Since the so called president got there self, what has he achieved. The people are languishing in poverty and yet you claimed you are fighting corruption. Who are you fighting corruption for? The people you want to kill with hunger or who? President! Please think.

Abinitio,I knew this Buhari promise is political.
It is an insult to the intelligence of Nigerian graduates.
