The Nigeria Prize For Science 2010 - A Call for Nominations.

Nigeria Liquidfied Natural Gas Call For Nominations
Nominations are hereby invited for the Nigeria Prize for Science. The yearly science prize is endowed by Nigerian LNG Limited (NLNG) to recognise outstanding scientific achievements by Nigerians. It includes an award of fifty thousand US Dollars (US$50,000).

Eligibility

  • The award is open to all Nigrerians scientists, irrespective of place of residence, in the pure and applied disciplines including agriculture and engineering.
  • The work should be of outstanding merit and would have advanced the frontiers of knowledge and/or technological problem.
  • The material for consideration must indicate the specific area of merit and all submissions must relate to that area.
  • The materials for the award must not have been submitted for any other award in the year under cosideration.
  • The materials in support of the nomination must be submitted along with the application.
  • Applications, including the supporting documents, must be submitted in six (6) copies.

The Nomination Process
Candidates for The Nigeria Prize for Science shall normally be nominated on prescribed forms by persons who are in their area of specialty. There should be a relationship between the candidate's area of specialization and the professional background of the nominator. Candidates may also nominate themselves.
- Nominators may nominate more than one person in the same field for consideration for a joint award.
- No member of the panel of judges can nominate or be nominated by any person for the award in the year they are serving.

Panel of Judges

  • A panel of judges will be selected for The Nigeria Prize for Science
  • The appointment of judges will be done in a way that reflects and represents the various branches of science. Persons appointed as judges are those whi have wide experience, peer recognition, good public image, and command respect nationally and internationally,
  • The decision of the judges shall be final.

  • Close of nominations (deadline) - March 30, 2010. Late entries will not be entertaiment.
  • Announcement of winners will be at the prestigious NLNG Grand Award Night.
