The Federal Civil Service Commission has recently conducted recruitment examination for qualified applicants who responded to its advertisement for positions into the services of the Federal Ministries of Education, Labour and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the six geo-political zones of the federation.
Prior to the examination, the names of shortlisted candidates were displayed on the notice boards of their respective State Civil Service Commissions as well as the State Civil Service Commission of delegated Zonal Centres where the examination held. Accreditations were also conducted at all the venues on September 20- 21,2012. Candidates from the South – West were scheduled for Lagos Centre; North – West scheduled for Kaduna; North – East for Yola; North Central for Abuja; South – East for Owerri and South-South for Port Harcourt.
According to the release from the Commission, successful candidates would be invited for oral interview before the final selection. The Commission stated that the examination exercise was carried out by the Federal Civil Service Commission in collaboration with the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON). Adding, the recruitment exercise is in line with the Transformation Agenda of the President which supports the creation of jobs for qualified Nigerian youths.
"Similarly, the decision of the Federal Civil Service Commission to advertise available vacancies in the civil service was to create a level playing ground for all Nigerians and also to ensure that only the best candidates are recruited, as selection would be strictly on merit and no prejudice to the Federal Character Policy of Government" the Commission insisted. The commission’s publicity indicted that the President has charged the Commission to restore the Civil Service to its past glory where its core values were meritocracy, political neutrality, discipline, impartiality, professionalism and integrity.
