Competitions/ Reality TV Show: The 2010 Debaters Season 2 Reality TV Show Call for Audition Entry.  The battle of words is back. The Inspiring Africa Project team and the GT Bank present to you the 2nd edition of The Debaters. Registration for regional audition is in progress and ends on 27th July 2010.
Participation in this reality show is opened to every Nigerian citizen irrespective of Race, Gender, Tribe, Ethnicity, Sex, Religion or Physical Condition.

Motivativation
We have all seen what the ability to speak effectively and, indeed, what the possession of exceptional oratory skills can do. Just a while ago, we all watched Barack Obama literally talk his way into becoming the first African-American (emphasis on the ‘AFRICAN’) of the United States of America. This is strong proof that great things can come out of Africa! He achieved this seemingly impossible and overly ambitious dream by effectively and convincingly employing his enormous gift of oratory and debate. To all intents and purposes, Obama talked his way into becoming the most influential man / leader in the world today.

The art of debate is all about the ability to talk; to speak well. It’s about being able to talk knowledgeably, passionately, convincingly, purposefully, clearly and, above all, with sincerity. It’s all about being able to engage your audience by communicating your deep heart-felt beliefs/opinions and eliciting a positive response from them.

The idea of this show was also motivated by the strong belief that we need to build a new crop of future leaders both in Nigeria and the African continent. Leaders who do not only possess the requisite educational and social background, but who – more importantly – can actually consistently express themselves articulately, charismatically and inspiringly. This they are able to do because of their sincere passion for the things they believe in; their willingness to stand up for their beliefs and beyond that, to walk the talk!

‘The Debaters’ is for young people who can debate topical issues intelligently, logically, passionately, sincerely and with a real sense of drive and purpose. And, needless to say, each contestant must have a good command of the English language (grammar). These are just some of the factors that motivated the creation of this show.

Eligibility Requirements for Contestants

1.     You must be a bona-fide Nigerian citizen.
2.    You must be at least 21 years of age as at the month of July 2009.
3.    You must be in excellent physical and mental health. Please note that all applicants who believe that they meet our eligibility criteria, including persons with disabilities, are welcome and encouraged to apply to participate in the show.
4.    You must be willing and able to move into and reside in the “Talk Academy” in any location chosen by the producers for the duration of the 13 weeks/episodes of the show.
5.    You must be willing and able to cover all your travel expenses to and from the location of the “Talk Academy” where all contestants will be resident throughout the duration of the show.
6.    You must be willing and able to fully participate for the duration of the 13 weeks/episodes of the show, based on the dates set by the Producers
7.    You must willing and able to peaceful co-exist with the other contestants who will be your housemates in the “Talk Academy” during the duration of the show.
8.    You must, at the very minimum, be an undergraduate of a recognized (reputable) Higher Institution of Learning.
9.    You must be able to show originals of your birth certificate, academic certificates and professional certificates (if any).
10.    You must be willing to attend regional auditions in the location nearest to you out of the four regional audition centers across Nigeria.
11.    You must be willing to assume full responsibility for the consequences of your participation in this show, should you be selected as one of the contestants.
12.    If selected as a participant, you may have to fill and/or sign various documents and forms including

·    eligibility requirements agreement document
·    voluntary participation agreement.

13.    Neither you nor any of your immediate family members, or anyone resident in your household may be an employee, officer, producer, director or agent of any of the following entities:
·    Vic Lawrence and Associates Limited
·    Inspire Africa
·    Moments with Mo
·    Inspire Africa Foundation
·    Any sponsor of the program (i.e. GTBank) or its advertising agency
·    Any person involved in the development, production or distribution of the reality show currently entitled “The Debaters”
·    Any person or entity providing services or prizes to the Program

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL APPLICANTS

1.    This show is open to all Nigerians, irrespective of Race, Gender, Tribe, Ethnic, Sex, Religion and Physical conditions.

2.    This show is also open to Nigerians in the Diaspora provided they meet eligibility requirements and are ready to bear the cost of transportation to and fro Nigeria.

3.    Registration is N2, 000.00 (Two Thousand Naira) only.

4.     Registration fee to be paid at any GT bank branch nationwide into: (Account name- Inspire Africa/ Debaters; Account No- 228658819111)

5.    To qualify for the regional audition, applicants should come to the venue with the completed Application Forms and the customers’ copy of the cash deposit slip, as evidence of payment. Applicants are also required to bring copies of their birth certificates and any other relevant document(s) to prove their eligibility.

6.    This competition is only opened to candidates between the ages of 22 and 30
