Al-Qalam University Katsina wishes to notify the general public and interested persons in accordance with provisions of the University law that applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position below:

Location: Katsina

Functions and Duties

• University Librarian is one of the Principal Officers of the University who shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the overall coordination and administration of the library as prescribed by statutory rules.

Qualification and Experience
Candidates who wish to apply for the position of University Librarian must fulfill the following:

• Possess a good honours Degree with a minimum of Second Class, Master's and Ph.D in Library Science, Library and Information Science or related field from a recognized University
• Demonstrate academic excellence in quality publications, teaching and research as well as credible community service
• He/She must have spent at least 15 years relevant working experience in a Tertiary Institution, preferably in a recognized University
• He/she must be a registered member of the Librarians Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN)
• He/She must possess considerable literacy in computer applications in particular relevant to new technologies in library operations
• Evidence of proven and sound administrative leadership record with ability to manage and carry colleagues along, and
• The candidate must not be more than sixty years of age at the time of assumption of office.

Conditions of Service

• The position of University Librarian is a tenure appointment for initial four years and renewable for another final four years upon satisfactory performance
• Fringe benefits include pension in accordance with the contributory pension scheme and appropriate allowances as may be approved from time to time by the University Council.
