ActionAid Nigeria (AAN) is a not for profit, non-governmental entity registered with the Nigeria Corporate Affairs Commission. It commenced operations in Nigeria in 1999, while the programmatic operations commenced in January 2000 through a Country Agreement signed with the National Planning Commission of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

AAN is inviting applications from qualified candidates to fill the position of Supporter Communications Officer.

Responsibilities
- Reports to the Head of Child Sponsorship
- The post holder will maintain timely communication with Child Sponsorship supporters in Europe, Italy, Sweden, Brazil and Nigeria. S/he will support the effective communication of the LRP programme to Child Sponsorship/Community Sponsorship supporters, communities and stakeholders.
- S/he will support partners to carry out fundraising roles through providing on-going capacity building and support to deliver on supporter care commitments.
- Provide a Communication point of contact for ActionAid Nigeria Child/Community Sponsorship Mechanisms.
- Ensure communications to UK, Italy, Sweden, Brazil and Nigeria Sponsors are delivered on a timely basis
- Work with UK, Italy and Sweden Communications and Supporter Services teams to ensure that communication and customer care commitment on Child Sponsorship, Community Sponsorship, Next Steps and Amico supporter are fulfilled.
- Support LRP partner organizations and their communities to capture activities, programme progress and achievements to be communicated to Sponsors and other stakeholders.
- Work with Printers and other vendors to ensure quality assurance in the production of sponsorship reports and other materials.
- Track LRP programme activities and provide support during project visits by supporters.
- Organise information from the wider organisation through email, and ensure it is appropriately distributed.
- Produce Annual Communication Plans for Funding Affiliates.
- Produce 3 year communication Plans for Child Sponsorship, Next Steps and Amico, Community Fundraising.
- Serve as a contact point with the celebrity Campaigner for Community Fundraising
- Facilitate the organisation of supporter events and any other social events within the organisation.
- Support Capacity of Partners to deliver and communicate our Local Rights Programmes
- Support Partner organizations in the development of their annual communication plans and budgets to ensure challenges are addressed and opportunities are maximized
- Support LRP partners in developing Annual Communication Plans.
- Encourage and support innovation in communication of child/Community sponsorship, Next Steps and Amico programmes.
- Develop reports in conjunction with Women’s Right team in line with ActionAid’s Next Steps and Amico Policy.
- Track Next Steps and Amico programme activities and provide support during project visits by supporters
- Produce Next Steps and Amico Nigeria Reports
Programme and Organizational Communications
- Oversight of team documents and publications and co-ordination of re-prints/re-design with final sign off responsibility.
- Act as point of contact for general information on Child/Community Sponsorship, Next Steps and Amico Programmes for the wider organisation and for the PAP team.
- Upload relevant documents on to the Community Sponsorship website and internal sites (i.e. Storieshub and HIVE)
- Work with designers and Printers to develop new communications materials as needed.
- Develop and maintain induction and external meeting materials and keep them updated.
- Maintain contact lists of LRP partner organisations, stakeholders (particularly partnership development community).
- Maintain effective communication with other teams in ActionAid.
- Support the training of new staffs in Child Sponsorship mechanism.
- Contribute to the capacity for using and updating of sponsorship database
Newsletter & Updates
- Produce a dynamic and visually pleasing quarterly newsletter and circulate to policy staff across ActionAid, partner organisations, wider development audience and other stakeholders.
- Responsible for writing updates on PAP and Sponsorship activity for ActionAid Nigeria.
- Design and develop Sponsorship/PAP-related presentations on PowerPoint.
Mass and Social Media
- Develop social media strategy/plan
- Increase visibility for community sponsorship on Facebook, LinkedIn, Tweeter and all other VERIFIABLE Social Networks by creating engaging updates for each site on a daily basis
- Develop, maintain and utilize social media calendar
- Monitor and evaluate social media engagement using analytics software, such as Google Analytics
- Work in close collaboration with ActionAid Communications team to generate and share content for social media platforms
- Responsible for regularly liaising with community partners, sponsors and other ActionAid programmes, to gather information and create content for use on Sponsorship’s website and social media platforms
- Collect, edit and post blogs written by partners, sponsors, staff, etc on Sponsorship website and external sites.
- Maintain and update Sponsorship website
- Promote Community Sponsorship in the media including TV, DSTV, Bill Boards, Radio, Prints

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences arts or humanities
- At least three years post NYSC experience with a minimum of two years spent as a project communication officer
- Proven experience in report writing
- Proven experience in professional social media engagement
- Proven experience in producing newsletters
- Strong communication and writing skills
- Ability to provide practical solutions within set deadlines.
- A working knowledge of the child protection act
- Good computer skills especially in the use of publishing tools
- Multi-tasking skills
- Negotiation skills
- Excellent planning and prioritization skills
- A person of integrity, creative and takes initiative, able to work effectively in a diverse team environment
- Organized and able to multi-task
- Willing to work additional hours at crucial times.
