We are recruiting to fill the following position:

Job Title: Security Information Analyst, P-4 (United Nations Department of Safety And Security) - Abuja, Nigeria

Location:
Abuja, NIGERIA

Background

This position is located in the Nigeria field office of the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS). UNDSS is responsible for providing leadership, operational support and oversight of the security management system to enable the safest and most efficient conduct of the programmes and activities of the United Nations System. Successful candidates who are not initially hired against this post will be placed on a roster for consideration as and when similar vacancies arise in the future at other duty stations. The selection process will be managed by UNDSS but, as UNDP administers UNDSS staff in field locations, appointment to this position will be offered under UNDP conditions of service. Staff members are subject to the authority of the Secretary-General and to assignment by him or her. In this context, all staff are expected to move periodically to new functions and other duty stations in their careers, as per established rules and procedures. UNDSS has a mandatory mobility policy whereby its internationally-recruited staff are expected to rotate to other duty stations every three to four years. The rotation programme is managed centrally by UNDSS. Abuja is presently a family duty station.

The SIA will maintain security information awareness of all aspects which could potentially affect the safety and security of the UN, including up-to-date knowledge of events relating to the security environment through monitoring of security incidents, daily situation reports, local media and other open sources. To accomplish the above, the SIA will be responsible for the identification and coordination of security information requirements, development of trend analysis, gathering comprehensive information on all factors on security as well as determining the relevance and validity of security information and the reliability of information resources. In addition, under the supervision of the CSA, the SIA will be responsible for developing country-wide security risk analyses, preparing comprehensive briefings on safety and security to the DO and the SMT, conducting research on specific threat factors, supporting the UN Crisis Management Team in Nigeria, disseminating security information in a timely manner to representatives of all UN Agencies, Funds and Programmes operating in Nigeria.
