Standard Bearers School was established at a time when the educational system in Nigeria was going through a difficult phase. While there seemed to be a proliferation of schools at the time, quality standards were fast diminishing. SBS opened its doors on January 7th, 1997 with a small group of committed teachers and a few pupils. The idea to establish SBS was borne out of the desire of the founder to create a school where academic and creative talents were given similar priorities.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Assistant Nursery Teacher

Location: Lekki, Lagos

Job Summary

• The preferred candidate will work in Preschool and nursery programs under the supervision of a class teacher.

Description

• Contribute to the preparation of teaching resources/materials.
• Supports the cleanliness of the classrooms and the bathrooms in conjunction with the cleaner.
• Maintain a safe environment for children, staff, and visitors to the school
• Ensures the nappies and toileting schedule is adhered to and that hygiene and dignity is maintained at all times.
• Supporting the feeding of children in the class and checking the children are sent home with the items they brought with them.
• Ensuring the children go home with a clean face and clean clothes. Inform the teacher if the parents need to purchase additional items for the children.
• Use the extensive space available to the nursery and ensure the children are not bored by being confined to one area for too long.
• Prepare classroom as directed for lessons and clear up afterward. Safely manage the learning activities, the teaching space, and resources.
• Record keeping and filing
• Produce classroom displays
• Support teachers in evaluating students’ progress
• Monitor student’s responses to learning and provide feedback
• Help the teacher maintain the student profile and data.
• Any other duties as directed by the Teacher / Head Teacher.

Requirements

• Diploma or B.Ed. in Early Childhood Education with a minimum of 2 years experience.
• Candidate must possess Jolly Phonics certification
• Candidates must be willing and ready to display a clear understanding of effective teaching and learning strategies across the classes.
• Most be computer literate, and able to use MicrosoftTeams
• Possess excellent interpersonal skills in relation to children, parents, and staff.
• Have a strong commitment to school improvement.
• Most reside in the Lekki/ Ajah area of Lagos State.
