Egbin Power Plc. Lagos is one of the biggest additions to the electricity industry in Nigeria. Often seen as the biggest single generating power station in Sub-Saharan Africa, it was built to meet the every rising demand for electricity in Lagos and its environs.
Following the nation’s privatization exercise, Sahara, through its power division, Sahara Power Group and sundry affiliations, acquired the 1320 MW installed capacity Egbin Power Plant. We are working towards deploying a minimum of 5,000 MW of electricity generation over the next five years.

Job Summary
Responsible for the maintenance and calibration of various types of relays, motor protection coordination.
Job Responsibilities
Provide engineering and operational support for the implementation and integration of control systems to ensure adequate and reliable operation
Provide engineering support for production and maintenance activities to ensure maximum production.
Provides electrical and controls support, to operations as needed; including troubleshooting, preventative maintenance (PM), changeover, modifications and repair of line equipment
Investigate production problems, diagnose faults and partner with maintenance to plan and organize equipment repairs to reduce downtime and outages.
Troubleshoots and accomplishes minor program changes in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s).
Work with team to develop the daily and weekly strategy based on priorities and the utilization of downtime studies and gap analysis for continuous improvement activities.
To maintain and update electrical schematics, engineering drawings for production, and technical documentation for new and existent equipment.
Follows current work instruction and ensures adherence to the Quality Control Plan and related Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
Performs Statistical Process Control Charting and takes appropriate corrective action.
Maintenance and calibration of various types of relays, motor protection coordination
Provides onsite coordination and commissioning of protective relay equipment
Read and interpret Electrical circuit diagrams and resolve faults
Ensure compliance with safety requirements
Support in planning resource requirements for electrical maintenance of electrical equipment.
Education and Work Experience
Eight (8) to Twelve (12) years’ relevant experience
Bachelor's Degree or its equivalent in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or any relevant field
A Postgraduate Degree and relevant professional qualification will be an added advantage.
Skills and Competencies:
Knowledge of relay testing, calibration, and coordination of motor protection
Technical knowledge and understanding of electric transmission system operation, maintenance, performance and power equipment
Knowledge of standard operating procedures with respect to maintenance of main plant, transformers etc.
Technical trouble shooting and ability to identify root cause of problems to avoid recurrence
Knowledge of safety standards and the ability to apply Electrical codes and standards as it applies to the job
Knowledge of applicable standards such as CSA, ANSI, IEC and IEEE standards
Knowledge of power generation process and commercial and tariff aspects
Knowledge of modern maintenance management practices and spares inventory management
Excellent knowledge of modern digital protective relays in utility applications and experience calculating relay settings.
Ability to read and interpret Electrical circuit diagrams and ability to resolve faults.
