We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Release Supervisor

Location: Lagos

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for coordinating the general activities of the Release and Invoicing department.
• The job holder will ensure that cargo is released to the rightful owner (consignee).
• It will be the responsibility of the Release Supervisor to ensure that all Release procedures (SOPs) & documentation aspects are adhered to, including payment of all charges, prior to cargoes being released.

Duties

• Managing the Release Management function, including leading and developing personnel.
• Acting as daily point of contact for Release and Invoicing Management and collaborating with other functional areas.
• Driving continuous quality improvement for Release and Invoicing Management and related areas with a view to improving effectiveness and productivity.
• Effective communication with customers and accurately processing and coordinating customers’ requests in a pro-active method.
• Ensuring that all import cargoes are released to the rightful consignees; and all applicable charges are paid prior to the issuance of Delivery Orders (D/O) in compliance with the approved SOPs and company rules and regulations.
• Collaborating with Credit Control and Sales team in ensuring that all outstanding debts are collected from the consignees.
• Liaising with Traffic team with a view to ensuring that empty units are returned to the designated depots.
• Ensuring correct Invoicing and full recovery, optimising revenue.
• Ensuring that receipts for payment of local charges are issued and in conjunction with Accounts department, conduct daily bank reconciliation with the bank statement.
• Timely identify and escalate gaps in SOPs.
• Generating accurate monthly reports and meeting monthly reporting deadlines.
• Actively stimulate, sell and advance the use of e-commerce.
• Ensuring timely and correct communication with authorities e.g. Customs, Police etc.
• Any other duties or projects assigned by the company.

Requirements
Who we are looking for:

• Minimum of B.Sc or HND in any discipline from a recognised tertiary institution
• Release management (at least 3 years’ industry experience)
• Good experience with container shipping operations
• Self-motivated with the ability to lead, groom and grow others
• Good communications skills
• Collaboration skills
• Ability to multi-task to a rational degree
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Proactive, enthusiastic and flexible approach
• Good working knowledge of MS-Office Suite (Excel, Word & PowerPoint)
