Gabson Professional School of Safety & Engineering was established in 2012 as the product of two visionary safety and engineering professionals with over 35 years of combined experience. Having acquired knowledge from industries ranging from manufacturing to oil & gas to construction, they discovered a void between what their respective fields required in the form of training and the actual skillsets of the available labour market. This along with a passion to create a workforce that is galvanized with relevant knowledge that will help them succeed in their chosen industry gave birth to Gabson Professional School Of Safety & Engineering.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Foreman / Civil Engineer

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluates mechanical and electromechanical systems and products by designing and conducting research programs; applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials as may be required.
• Manage all issues relating to all civil installation, mechanical, electrical, structural, plumbing, carpentry works, and civil Equipment maintenance in line with the company set objectives.
• All technical quotations must be accompanied by technical drawings with a bill of materials specification before any approval.
• The incumbent must ensure all civil-related equipment owned by the company are available at greater than 98% at all times.
• Effectively minimize downtime disruption in project execution and maintenance activities and facilities installation breakdowns in order to actualize the company set objectives.
• Manage costs in all his operational activities to ensure competitiveness in all civil biddings.
• The incumbent must be able to communicate freely with other sections of the company on all issues relating to civil projects, installations, renovations, maintenance, cost, and safety in line with the company's set objectives.
• Get familiar with all related standards, bodies and organization that guides all civil operations locally and internationally.
• All civil activities must comply with all safety standards during and after installation, repair & maintenance at all times to ensure the safety of the environment, property, people, and end-users.
• Manage, design, develop, create and maintain small-scale through to large-scale construction projects in a safe, timely, and sustainable manner.
• Conduct on-site investigations and analyze data (maps, reports, tests, drawings, and others).
• Monitor progress and compile reports on project status.
• Comply with guidelines and regulations including permits, safety, etc., and deliver technical files and other technical documentation as required.
• Prepare and share daily, weekly, and monthly reports of plans stating the status of achievement, challenges encountered and a new plan for the new week/month.
• To report all incidents/accidents in the appropriate manner as laid down by the Company policy.
• Ensuring that departmental set objectives including cost savings are met with adequate proof.
• Develop appropriate bill of material when necessary to bid for client or project execution.

Qualifications, Experience & Skill Requirements

• B.Sc / HND in Civil Engineering plus Knowledge of health, safety, and environment.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in domestic and industrial construction installation and maintenance.
• COREN/NSE certified or M.Sc. is an added advantage.
• Certification in Project Management is an added advantage.
• Not more than 35 years of age.
• Ability to design with AutoCAD & interpret civil, structural, mechanical drawings is required.
• Certification in Project management and skills is an added advantage.
• Experience as a foreman is highly required.
• Understanding CTR is critical in project costing.
• Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner.
• Ability to accomplish any given task on schedule, proof knowledge of multi-skill and hands-on experience.
• Computer skills in the use of MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Project.
• A certificate in HSE supervisory skill is an added advantage.
