Job Title: Health, Safety & Environment Executive
Location: Apapa, Lagos
Department: HSE
Role Summary
Health, Safety and Environment Executive will be responsible for conducting risk assessments to detect potential hazards and plan precautionary measures.
Responsible for monitoring and assessing hazardous and unsafe situations and developing measures to assure personnel safety at the terminal, and design strategies to reduce potential hazards within an assigned workplace, etc.

Operational Responsibilities
To ensure that international HSE best practices are observed
Ensures that HSE licenses are renewed promptly
Ensure periodic fumigation & expunging of harmful substance from the terminal.
Health and safety education: providing lectures on health safety precautions within the workplace periodically
Ensure distribution of P.P.E’s to staff within the terminal and enforce compliance
Regularly audit and review the EHS MS for compliance in accordance with applicable legislative standards
Ensure that all safety precautions are well in place, e.g. fire extinguishers in case of fire outbreak, muster points, safety drills etc
Communicate, coach and support team to ensure that all EHS expectations are understood and met
Assist the Group HSE Manager in collating information for preparation of monthly and annual HSE reports
Perform hazard evaluations/risk assessment on terminal including offices
Monitoring operations in the terminal, ensure compliance with trucks safety standard prior to loading in the terminal
Investigating causes of accidents and other unsafe conditions on the job site, review and ensure learning points are cascaded
Prepare and facilitate EHS meetings, foster teamwork and growth with all stakeholders
Sharing information, suggestions, and observations with terminal leadership to create consistency in safety standards throughout the team
Compile and maintain relevant registers to ensure compliance with HSE standards
Maintain a safe working environment and assist with all disaster contingency plans
Perform other related functions required from time to time such as assistance with safety related issues.
Job Specification
Candidates must possess a B.Sc or HND in any Environmental and Safety Sciences or equivalent
Professional graduate of ISPON (GHSE or Level 3), NEBOSH or HSE Certificates will be an added advantage
Candidates should possess 2 - 4 years work experience
Knowledge of Microsoft office
Effective at time management and prioritizing tasks to achieve deadlines
Must be experienced in high rise building maintenance
Must be a holder of degree in any
Good understanding of hazard identification and risk assessment studies
Excellent oral and written communication skills
A comprehensive understanding of terminal operations
Experience in recommending results/corrective actions
Excellent leadership, organisational and interpersonal skills
Strong ethics and high level of integrity
Ability to work independently and with very limited supervision
Flexibility in resolving issues and addressing changing priorities.
