Job Title: Agric Economist / Profit Centre Officer

Job Description

• Analyse and develop agricultural business plans and propositions to guide investment decisions.
• Analyse and prepare financial projections of costs and revenue for agricultural business propositions.
• Identify and explore opportunities and incentives within the agricultural industry the company can take advantage of.
• Propose viable and profitable agricultural business initiatives for Management consideration.
• Identify agricultural business opportunities and prospects.
• Market and ensure availability of ready markets/off-takers for company’s agricultural products.
• Manage relationship with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders.
• Ensure effective management and supervision of farms and other agricultural projects of the company to maximise profitability.
• Achieve cost reduction in production, processing, storage and distribution of farm products.
• Ensure availability of farm inputs, equipment, machinery for smooth operations.
• Analyse data and statistics to establish industry trends and use same to influence, improve and inform business decisions.
• Identify business risks and provide mitigants to avoid business or financial losses.
• Keep abreast with developments in the industry.
• Keep detailed records and prepare budgets and reports.
• Handle other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Agric Economics, Economics and related fields. MBA (preferably in Agribusiness) is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 8 years experience in agro/food production, processing and distribution (sales & marketing).
• Understanding of commodity pricing, market dynamics and supply chain.
• Comprehensive knowledge of value chain for all crops of interests
• Ability to analyse industry data and predict market behaviour
• Ability to conduct feasibility studies.
• Proper understanding of the agriculture industry linkages and value chains.
• Strong marketing and sales skills.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills and ability to apply technical knowledge.
• Fluent English and ability to communicate effectively across different levels.
• Effective leadership and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Strong research and analytical skills
• Solid planning and organisational skill including keen attention to detail.
• Proficiency in use of computer software.
