Federal University, Dutse (FUD) - The University’s campus is located in the capital of Jigawa State, Dutse, an ancient town in north-western Nigeria. The University’s host town, Dutse, offers the charm of a small agricultural town, with easy access to major metropolitan areas such as Kano, Bauchi, Maiduguri, and Kaduna.

As a new Federal Government-owned institution, FUD offers a broad range of degree programs in the Humanities, the Natural and the Social Sciences, and Agriculture, and, in years to come, courses in Management Sciences, Environmental Studies, Law, Education, Engineering, and Medicine.

Job Title: University Librarian

Location: Jigawa

Job Description

• The University Librarian shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the overall administration of the University, its branches and extension and for providing library services for entire University community.

The Person

• The university Librarian is a Principal Officer and is the head of the University's Library, candidate for the post should be visionary and have the ability to provide good leadership.
• Must possess personal integrity and demonstrate transparency in private and public life.
• Must be able to command the respect and loyalty of staff of the University.

Qualification
Candidates for this post should:

• Be professionally qualified and be practicing Librarian.
• Possess a good honours degree and PhD in Library and Information Science from a recognized University, with at least twenty (20) years relevant experience, preferable in a University system or other institutions of higher learning.
• Have contributed to knowledge through research and publications in reputable journals, as well as possess proven records of sound administrative leadership.
• Be registered member of the Library Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN).
• Be computer literate and proficient in relevant computer applications.

Remuneration
Salary and conditions of service of the University Librarian shall be as obtainable in Federal Universities in Nigeria.
