Comfort Movers is a high tech logistics and supply chain organization that has been in existence for a little over a year. Comfort Movers Limited is primarily involved in general logistics and procurement.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Procurement, Logistics and Supply Chain Director

Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • We are looking for a leader and a team player, with vast experience dealing with all aspects of supply chain, to leverage on his networks and relationships within the industry to sustainably grow the organization.
  • The Director for Procurement and Logistics will provide leadership, vision, direction and structure to Comfort Movers’ procurement and logistics functions at the national and regional levels, ensuring that it is aligned with the overarching organizational strategic priorities and needs.
  • The Director will lead the integration of the procurement and logistics functions, with a vision for proactively serving the need for higher visibility, efficiency and stewardship, developing the company’s national and regional capabilities for the delivery of goods and services with strong control and accountability oversight.
  • The Director will lead in creating an enabling environment where Comfort Movers can achieve industry leadership in supply chain management.
  • The Director will define and enforce the framework and process for proactive procurement and logistics planning at national and regional levels.
  • S/he will also initiate stronger processes for strategic sourcing through multiple modalities, logistics and inventory management activities, and proactive suppliers and contract management.
  • In addition to processes and strategies, the Director will improve the organization’s data analytics to enhance spend and opportunity analysis as well as performance and compliance.
  • This position is critical to Comfort Movers’ achieving operational excellence through the appropriate stewardship of resources.

Responsibilities
Leadership and Strategy:

  • Develop, implement and maintain the overarching Comfort Movers National and Regional Procurement and Logistics governance framework, incorporating policies, procedures (including Supply Chain Management Handbook, Procurement Manual), systems (including Insight, Comfort Movers’ integrated Finance, HR and Supply Chain system), structures (including staffing and contracting) and tools for all related activities.
  • Provide strategic leadership of proactive customer-centric procurement and logistics functions to meet service expectations of National Programmes and other stakeholders (investors, donors, partners, etc).
  • Facilitate the organization’s strategic positioning as a national and regional industry leader in procurement and services, last mile logistics, market support programs, and social sourcing.
  • Lead the implementation of a coherent, robust and reliable national and regional logistics framework and provide proactive locally-relevant support service to country programmes, based on industry-grade modern logistics solutions.

Human Capital Management:

  • Attract, lead and develop a team of national and regional professionals to provide authoritative advice on all aspects of procurement and logistics, and support country offices in their supply chain management needs.
  • Create a talent development and performance management process for Procurement and logistics staff across the organization, in coordination with HR, to ensure that the right resources are in place and fully engaged.
  • Develop and implement strategies for leading Comfort Movers National and Regional Community of Practice for Procurement and Logistics staff into a thriving, dynamic, cohesive and supportive community.

Service Delivery:

  • Lead Comfort Movers’ procurement and logistics services, in maintaining operational efficiency and expediency, ensuring integrity and stewardship through a robust quality assurance framework; as well as rigorous, cost-effective procurement and logistics management service delivery.
  • Collaborate directly with Regional and National Programme Operations staff in - and across – supply chain planning, sourcing, contracting, transactional purchasing, supplier management, logistics operations, to ensure that procurement and logistics activities are fulfilled with the utmost professionalism.
  • Lead direct procurement and delivery of key strategic goods and/or services for both external and internal use.
  • Develop and implement a reliable organization-wide market intelligence mechanism for selected goods and services. Ensure strong supplier performance and contract management mechanisms are in place for efficiency and value for money.
  • Lead the development of a robust business plan that provides a robust plan to sustainably grow the organization.

Performance and Compliance:

  • Oversee all operational activities that are required to ensure Comfort Movers’ procurement and logistics compliance, including internal controls, risk assessment and mitigation, forward planning, and performance management, as well as strategic vendor management.
  • Lead or participate as needed in the sourcing, negotiation and documentation of funding and contracts.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to capture, evaluate, and report on the performance of all procurement and logistics activities. Ensure that KPIs are used for continuous improvement and for strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure that best practices, ethics, industry standards, as well as relevant compliance requirements are understood and adhered to by all staff undertaking procurement and logistics activities across the organization; as well as all internal stakeholders.

Relationships:

  • Implement a collaborative structure that clearly delineates roles, responsibilities and service standards.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, to build trust, influence and facilitate the acceptance of new approaches and operating practices.
  • Represent Procurement and Logistics functions on cross-functional initiatives. Engage with core Operational, Finance, Compliance, Legal and Internal Audit teams to ensure strong and effective collaboration.
  • Represent Comfort Movers in relevant external settings, including meetings with donors, key stakeholders and service providers, peer organizations, industry bodies, and lead or participate in negotiations for collaboration, partnership or contractual arrangements as necessary.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • At least 7 years of senior national and/or regional experience in procurement or supply chain management experience, operational management experience, or experience in relevant service delivery, with at least 5 years within national or international organizations.
  • Evidence of turnover from previous jobs facilitated by the applicant is an added advantage.
  • At least a degree in a relevant field, such as economics, finance, business, procurement, or a related discipline.
  • Industry recognized certification such as CILSCM, CSCP or equivalent, will be highly regarded.
  • In-depth knowledge of modern sourcing and procurement principles and demonstrated experience in implementing appropriate systems for the management of local and/or international procurement services. Strong negotiation skills, especially for large and complex international procurement contracts.
  • Strong people leadership skills, with proven ability to lead teams to deliver world class customer-focused excellence, within complex national and regional environments.
  • Working fluency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook, SharePoint, and Internet Explorer) and analytical tools required.

Location Information:

  • The location of the assignment is Abuja with potentials for travels to other parts of Nigeria.
  • Prospective applicants must demonstrate ability to work in Abuja.

Remuneration

  • The remuneration for this position is in the range of NGN 400,000 to NGN 1,000,000.
  • This is in addition to other packages and performance based incentives.
