A major international oil and gas operator has requested CCL to provide a Contract Officer for a permanent position in Lagos, reporting to Contracts & Procurement Supervisor. Able to travel as required. Excellent package.

Position: Contract Officer - Nigeria

THE PERSON

Five years cognate work experience with relevant experience in procurement activity.
Responsible for QC, may work closely with technologists on purchase of materials, equipment, supplies & services of a specialized or complex nature in accordance with prescribed purchasing policy and procedures.
Considerable amount of responsibility and autonomy in what is often a pressured environment. Demonstrates a business like approach, and use tact and diplomacy when negotiating.
Identifies and selects vendor to procure requisitioned commodities, meeting criteria such as price, quantity, quality and delivery date and places orders.
Writes and distributes complex and technical bid invitations or requests for proposals; receives and analyses bids, quotes, proposals, and awards the contract.
Assists in selecting the most appropriate goods and services on the basis of price, quality, delivery times and services support.
Takes own business brand, needs and customer interests into consideration. Be able to absorb and assess information quickly.
Be a good negotiator and enjoy dealing with people, whether by phone or in person.
Ensures Interpretation of orders and communicates purchasing procedures to departments.
Assists departments in initiating requisitions and orders, and solves problems with orders. Assists in regularly reviewing performance of suppliers and service providers e.g. sales and discount levels.
Contributes in the identifications of potential suppliers. Keeps contract files and using them as reference for the future.
Ensures that the suppliers are aware of business objectives.
Attends in visiting distribution centres and suppliers.
Finalize the tender procedure without reasonable delay.
Grant cost saving without affects timing and quality of the process.

Qualifications required

A good first degree or its equivalent from a reputable university.
Produces reports and statistics using computer software.
Knowledge of purchasing practices / procedures; Materials, products / commodity market. Skill in preparing / analysing complex technical specifications & bids.
Skill in both verbal and written communication & Numerical skills.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
Be in attendant of meetings with suppliers and negotiating teams of contract.
