Edo State University, Iyamho, was established by the Edo State University Iyamho Law (2014) and subsequently amended to Edo State University Iyamho, Uzairue (Amendment Law 2015). It was further amended as Edo State University, Iyamho (Amendment Law 2016). The University was accorded recognition and issued a license by the National Universities Commission on 23rd March, 2016, as the 41st state-owned University and 142nd University in Nigeria.
Edo State University, Iyamho is a fee-paying institution of world-class standard. The purpose of establishing the University is to meet the increasing demands for quality tertiary education in Edo State, in particular and Nigeria in general. The Edo State Government also realised that developing human capital through quality education is the key to meaningful development of the State, hence the need to establish a University that will provide quality education. The University is also expected to propel social, economic, political, cultural, scientific and industrial growth of the State and Nigeria. The establishment of the Edo State University Uzairue, will equally increase access to tertiary education for Edo State citizens and other Nigerians. Edo State University, Iyamho, is fully owned by the Edo State Government.

Job Description
The post of the Vice-Chancellor of Edo State University, Iyamho, Edo State, Nigeria, is vacant. In accordance with the provisions of Section 3 (1) of Edo State University Iyamho Law 2014 as amended, the Governing Council of the Edo State University Iyamho wishes to commence the process of appointing a new Vice-Chancellor for the University.
Responsibilities
The Vice-Chancellor shall be the Chief Executive and Chief Academic Officer of the University.
He/she shall be a member of the Governing Council and Chairman of Senate as well as Congregation.
He/she shall be responsible to the Council for the management of the human, financial and material resources of the University.
Qualifications And Experience
A candidate for the post of Vice-Chancellor is expected to be a globally recognized academic who possesses a Doctoral degree (or its equivalent) from a recognized University.
The individual should have proven experience in the successful management of human and material resources in the University system.
Specifically, the candidate should have the following attributes:
Be a highly distinguished academic of the rank of Professor of not less than five (5) years standing at the close of the advertisement.
Should have occupied the position of Dean of a Faculty, Director of an academic unit, Head of Department or other comparable administrative position in a University. Have the capacity to provide academic and administrative leadership.
Be a scholar of outstanding international repute, with proficiency in Information Communication Technology (ICT).
Be a person with a track record of teaching, research, and community service.
Have entrepreneurial and innovative abilities with the capacity to garner resources for sustainable growth and development of the University.
Have clear vision for the development of the University in the realisation of its mission to focus on research, innovation and infrastructure development.
Have the ability to foster regional and international partnerships, grant making, including securing opportunities with the local and international business communities for the achievement of the University's strategic goals.
Have the ability to cultivate a strong academic culture that can foster the advancement of learning, research and innovation.
Have a strong desire and willingness to work with a wide spectrum of people and have a commitment to encourage diversity and guard against discrimination in any form.
Should be a person of sound mental and physical health, pleasant disposition, team player, unassailable integrity; and strong moral character.
The candidate should not be more than sixty-five (65) years old at the close of application.

The remuneration and other conditions of service are as applicable to the post of the Vice Chancellor in comparable institutions in Nigeria.
