Audit Trainee at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA)

IITA is an international non-profit agricultural research-for-development (R4D) organization established in 1967, governed by a Board of Trustees, and a member of the CGIAR Consortium. Our R4D approach is anchored on the development needs of the tropics. We work with partners to enhance crop quality and productivity, reduce producer and consumer risks, and generate wealth from agriculture. We have more than 100 internationally recruited scientists from about 35 countries and 900 nationally recruited staff based in various stations across Africa.

We are recruiting to fill the vacant position of:

Job Title: Audit Trainee

Location: Ibadan
Contract: (2-year renewable contract)

Duties

• Support/carry out audit reviews of assigned areas in administration, research, cost centres and stations;
• Review transaction records for completeness, validity and accuracy;
• Determine whether transactions processed are genuine, reasonable and comply with the institute's policies;
• Carry out physical counts of stock items and cash on need basis;
• Observe the performance of tasks and activities and report on observations;
• Prepare draft reports on assigned task for supervisor’s review;
• Perform follow-up on past audit reconinieridation and prepare drafts policies;
• Upload relevant information on assigned tasks to the Audit Management Software:
• Carry out any other work as may be assigned by unit Head.

Qualifications and Experience

• B.Sc./HND in Accounting/Business Management, ICAN/ACAA would be an added advantage.
• Minimum of 2 years working experience in a related role of a large organization is required.

• Be able to demonstrate evidence of continuous learning;
• Possess inquisitive mind and good interactive skills;
• Demonstrate ability to read, understand and audit for compliance with donor agreement.
• Strong ability to co-ordinate, prioritize and organize workload; take initiative and work under pressure.
