Job Title: Finance Manager (Upstream Oil and Gas)

Role Summary
A dynamic and growing energy company, specializing in upstream oil and gas projects, is seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Finance/Accounts Manager to join its team in Lagos.
This critical role will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations and playing a key part in the company's financial strategy and project health.
The Finance/Accounts Manager will be responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring accurate accounting, financial planning, and budgeting.
This role involves maintaining compliance with financial regulations, ensuring efficient cash flow management, managing accounts payable/receivable, and contributing to the company's financial strategy.
The manager will also support business growth by providing financial insights and ensuring the financial health of projects.
The role reports directly to the Managing Director.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Budgeting: Lead the annual budgeting process, including preparing, consolidating, and reviewing financial projections, especially for upstream projects. Track budget variances and recommend corrective actions.
Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation of accurate, timely financial statements (monthly, quarterly, annual) compliant with IFRS and local laws. Prepare reports on project performance, cash flow, and Capital Expenditure (CapEx) analysis.
Accounts & Cash Flow Management: Supervise accounts payable/receivable, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments. Monitor cash flow for adequate liquidity and manage working capital, including debt recovery and vendor payments.
Audit & Compliance: Ensure financial practices comply with internal policies, Nigerian regulations (e.g., FIRS, NNPC), and international financial standards. Lead internal and external audit preparations.
Tax & Risk Management: Oversee tax filings and compliance (corporate tax, VAT). Identify and mitigate financial risks, such as foreign exchange volatility and credit exposure.
Capital Management: Oversee capital expenditure planning and approval. Manage relationships with banks and financial institutions for project financing.
Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the finance and accounting team.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. A professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA, or CFA is a plus.
Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in finance or accounting, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
Sector Specific: Strong experience in the upstream oil and gas sector, preferably within an EPICM environment.
Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of IFRS, local tax regulations, and oil and gas accounting principles. Proficiency in financial software (e.g., SAP) and advanced Excel skills.
Please experience in upstream oil and Gas is required
Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and proven leadership capabilities.
