Job Summary
The purpose of the Programme Finance Officer role is to provide financial and administrative support to ensure effective financial management of programmes and projects implemented in the Gwoza.
The postholder supports the Programme Finance Manager with budgeting, expenditure monitoring, and financial reporting, as well as performing key transactional tasks such as reviewing and processing invoices, verifying supporting documentation, preparing payment requests, and reconciling project accounts.
The postholder ensures financial accuracy, compliance with donor and organisational policies, and contributes to the timely delivery of high-quality programme financial information.
Key roles and responsibilities
Specific Duties:
Invoice POs and Non-PO Invoices on Integra and ensure adequate documentation.
Settle and upload payments on the banking platform within 2 working days of invoicing.
Follow up and liquidate all travel and program advances immediately after the execution of the purpose of the advance
Prepare and pay Tax liabilities to the respective bodies on or before the 11th of every subsequent month.
Do weekly and Monthly bank reconciliations and cash counts by last working day of the week and 1st working day of subsequent month respectively.
Forward to the Finance Manager every month, outstanding personnel advances and charges related to D7, for recovery.
Finance / Budgeting:
Act at all times in accordance with country law and standards of accounting practice.
Review, with the objective of gaining a clear understanding, budget guidelines and instructions.
Review funding allocations to enable proper guidance to programs and proper coding.
Be receptive to training provided and to develop his or her technical and professional competence.
Follow any new procedures and guidelines designated in circulars from the Country Director and Finance Controller.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or Finance or CPA from recognized College/Institutions with a minimum of three (3) years of accounting experience. Computer literate with significant experience in excel, accounting package knowledge (SUN system) will be an added advantage. The candidate should be mature, with stable personality and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Work Environment:
The position will be based in Gwoza –Borno State, Nigeria, with travels to research sites and stakeholders engagement as necessary. The situation in northeast and Northwest Nigeria continues to be volatile and the security phase is orange or red depending on location.
