Job Overview

• This internship programme is designed for highly motivated recent graduates and current NYSC members seeking to build a career in Accounting, with a focus on Finance. Interns will work closely with senior members of the department, gaining practical exposure to the preparation of management accounts and client financial reports.
• The role offers hands-on experience, structured learning, and mentorship within the Finance function of our Accounting Department. Interns will develop practical skills in applying accounting principles to data analysis, supporting financial reporting processes, and contributing to financial reporting automation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Reporting Support:

• Assist in the preparation of management accounts and client financial reports.
• Support month-end and periodic financial closing activities.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and schedules.
• Assist in posting journals, reconciliations, and basic ledger reviews.
• Data Analysis & Financial Support
• Support financial data analysis for reporting and decision-making.
• Assist with variance analysis and financial performance tracking.
• Compile financial data from multiple sources for reporting purposes.

Process & Automation Support:

• Support financial reporting automation initiatives using approved tools and templates.
• Assist in improving efficiency of accounting and reporting processes.
• Ensure data accuracy and integrity within finance systems and spreadsheets.
• Compliance & Controls
• Support adherence to internal financial controls, policies, and procedures.
• Assist in documentation required for audits, compliance reviews, and management requests.
• Maintain confidentiality and proper handling of financial information.

Learning & Professional Development:

• Actively participate in training, mentoring, and learning sessions.
• Apply accounting principles, standards, and best practices in assigned tasks.
• Demonstrate continuous improvement in technical and professional competence.

General Finance Support:

• Provide administrative and operational support to the Finance & accounting team as required.
• Carry out other finance-related duties as assigned by the CFO, Team Lead & Seniors.

Requirements

• A fresh graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or any other related field, must have graduated with a minimum of a First Class or a Second Class Upper Division.
• Strong foundational understanding of basic accounting principle
• Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Intermediate Excel Knowledge is an advantage.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• A demonstrated interest in technology and its application to finance and accounting.
