Jaba HR Partners, an HR consulting and recruitment firm, is recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Project Quantity Surveyor

Location: Nigeria

Role Purpose

• The Project Quantity Surveyor is responsible for cost control, measurements, valuations, and financial monitoring of projects.
• While working closely with the Project Manager on site operations, the QS reports directly to the Managing Director on all cost-related matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor project costs against the approved budget.
• Prepare cost reports and cash flow forecasts for the MD.
• Identify cost risks and advise on mitigation measures.
• Take accurate measurements of work executed on site.
• Prepare interim valuations and final accounts.
• Verify subcontractor claims and work done.
• Identify, document, and value variations and additional works.
• Prepare variation submissions and maintain variation logs.
• Advise on cost implications of design or scope changes.
• Assist in pricing and evaluation of materials and subcontractor quotations.
• Monitor material usage and reconcile quantities to prevent wastage.
• Work with the Project Manager on procurement planning.
• Submit regular cost and valuation reports to the MD.
• Maintain proper records of measurements, valuations, and approvals.
• Support project audits and financial reviews when required.
• Accurate cost tracking and reporting.
• Timely preparation of valuations and variation claims.
• Effective collaboration with the Project Manager.
• Strong cost control with minimal budget overruns.

Key Requirements

• BSc / MSc in Quantity Surveying
• Minimum of 10 years post-NYSC experience as a Quantity Surveyor
• Professional membership with NIQS / QSRBN (mandatory or strong advantage).

Proven experience in:

• Cost planning and control
• Preparation of BOQs, valuations, and variations
• Contract administration and final accounts
• Budgeting and financial reporting

Strong understanding of:

• Construction contracts (FIDIC, JCT, etc.)
• Cost management techniques
• Proficiency in MS Excel, QS software (e.g., CostX, PlanSwift) is an advantage
• Strong analytical and negotiation skills, High level of integrity and attention to detail.
