Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experiencedProgram Specialistto manage the full program management cyclefor community-focused development initiatives, coordinating the design, implementation, and growth of impactful community development programs.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned development professional with strong experience inOVC/Vulnerable household programming, organizational development, program implementation, stakeholder engagement, and volunteer coordination, with deep understanding ofGovernment of Nigeria systems
Key Responsibilities
Program Design & Planning:
Manage the design of community-based development programs, includingneeds assessments, problem analysis, theory of change, logical frameworks, and implementation strategies.
Develop detailedworkplans, budgets, activity schedules, and resource plansfor approved programs.
Ensure program designs are aligned with the organization’s faith-based mission, community priorities, and national development frameworks.
Program Implementation & Coordination:
Manage day-to-day implementation of programs, ensuring activities are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
Coordinate program staff, volunteers, and community workers to ensure smooth execution of activities.
Provide ongoing technical and operational support to program teams and volunteers.
Ensure safeguarding, accountability, and ethical standards are upheld across all program activities.
OVC & Vulnerable Population Programming:
Manage OVC and vulnerable household programming, includingcase management, household strengthening, education support, health referrals, psychosocial support, child protection, and livelihoods linkages.
Ensure alignment withnational OVC service standards, referral pathways, and safeguarding requirements.
Support integration of faith-sensitive and culturally appropriate approaches in service delivery.
Facilitate program learning, reflection, and adaptation to improve quality and impact.
Stakeholder Engagement & Government Coordination:
Manage relationships withGovernment of Nigeria institutions(Federal, State, and LGA levels), faith institutions, community leaders, and partners.
Ensure program alignment with GoN policies, systems, and reporting requirements.
Represent the organization in coordination meetings, technical forums, and stakeholder engagements as assigned.
Organizational Development & Start-Up Support;
Support development and strengthening oforganizational systems, including SOPs, policies, program manuals, and reporting tools.
Contribute to institutional growth by supportingstrategic planning, program expansion, and system strengthening initiatives.
Support documentation of processes and institutional knowledge to strengthen sustainability.
Volunteer & Team Management:
Manage volunteers recruitment, orientation, coordination, and performance of volunteers and community-based workers.
Build capacity of volunteers and staff through mentoring, coaching, and on-the-job support.
Foster a values-driven, accountable, and collaborative working environment.
Faith Integration & Community Engagement:
Ensure programs reflect the organization’sChristian values, compassion, integrity, and service to vulnerable populations.
Engage respectfully with faith and community structures to promote ownership, trust, and sustainability.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in public health, Development Studies, Social Work, Sociology, Project Management, Organizational Development, or a related field.
Master’s degree is an advantage.
8–12 years relevant experience indevelopment or humanitarian programming.
Demonstrated experience managing thefull program management cycle.
Strong hands-on experience inOVC programming and vulnerable population interventions.
Proven experience supportingorganizational development or start-up environments.
Strong familiarity withGovernment of Nigeria systems, policies, and coordination structures.
Experience managing and coordinatingvolunteers and community-based teams.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
