Centre for Integrated Health Programs (CIHP) Recruits Laboratory Diagnostics Manager - Abuja

This is aimed at increasing local ownership, funding effectiveness and strengthening of local talent for the adequate provision of quality technical assistance for healthcare and development in Nigeria as part of the US President's Emergency Fund for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR II )'s central sustainability theme. We are recruiting for the positions of:

Job Title: Laboratory Diagnostics Manager

Location: Abuja

• Incumbent will provide leadership in all laboratories supported by CIHP focusing on HIV, TB, malaria and other infectious diseases
• Provide technical expertise and coordinate services needed to implement high quality clinical laboratory services
• Develop long range business plans and implement growth strategies, analyze and manage financial performance and coordination of all laboratory services to ensure optimal synergies of service and quality.
• Coordinate the design, planning and implementation of laboratory services according to national and international standards ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations
• Develop guidelines, tools, SOPs and recommendations related to implementation, monitoring laboratory total quality management in high technology laboratories.
• Plan, direct, and evaluate the work of laboratory personnel; ensuring that test results are recorded and accurately reported
• Control physical inventory of supplies and reagents, decisions on the purchase of analytical equipment, correlation of new procedures and assays, policy and procedures review and supporting documentation
• Collaborate with other managers and health care workers to establish and maintain laboratory services to support public health programs and disease control in the community.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Ability

• Bachelor of Science/Health Science Degree in Medical Lab Sciences or in related science from an accredited school. Master's degree preferred
• At least 7 year's of cognate experience, 4 years of which must be at senior-level.
• Ability to demonstrate thorough knowledge of the current principles and techniques surrounding the management of laboratory services
• Thorough understanding and knowledge of financial and operational systems of the laboratory
• Familiarity with standards and federal/state regulations affecting the laboratory and laboratory practices within a hospital environment
• Ability to demonstrate independent judgment, knowledge of regulatory agency standards
• Experience in Laboratory Information Systems. Experience in a clinical laboratory setting in the areas of molecular diagnosis, viral load determination, drug resistance testing, genotyping and nucleic acid sequencing will be an advantage.
• Working knowledge of public sector health system, donor agencies, NGOs and CBOs is required. .Knowledge of regulatory agency standards

• Significant amount of travel may be involved for all positions.
