The Program Officer Health Management Information Systems (HMIS) with oversight from the Senior Program Officer HMIS and under the supervision of the Director Strategic Information is responsible for direct HMIS technical support to ACTION-supported health facilities.
Under the supervision of the Director Strategic Information, this position will be responsible for the following;
Key Areas Of Responsibility
Providing technical support for the implementation and utilization of databases related to HIV/AIDS Program including CAREWare and other information systems.
Supporting the quality control systems and mechanisms needed to guarantee proper management of information and data quality assurance.
Assisting with user training and system documentation.
Troubleshooting the Health Management Information System at sites.
Assisting with the design and/or development of specific databases for collection, tracking and reporting of program and operational research data.
Assisting with proposal writing
Any other duties that may be assigned
Co-ordinate, track progress, review results and address care and support challenges.
Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Graduate in a related field of study. An MBBS or other medically related degree will be an added advantage
Must possess 3 – 5 years of relevant experience
Core interest in IT application to health programs
Knowledge of health, reproductive health or HIV/AIDS programming
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in database development and management
Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office package applications, especially Access and Excel, as well as some knowledge of SQL Server
Knowledge of CAREWare software is a plus
Experience in facilitating trainings is a plus
Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
Must function well in a team setting
Flexibility to meet objectives in a continually evolving Information Systems environment
Ability to set and adjust priorities based on organizational objectives, emerging requirements and available resources
Strong problem solving and analytical skills, as well as system troubleshooting.
