As the scourge of unemployment and underemployment drowns Nigeria, youths are left to scramble for job opportunities through desperate means which has predisposed job-seekers into dangers and scams in recent times.

Some Lagosians yesterday, 27th of September at around 11pm received a message through the conventional Whatsapp and BBM messaging applications inviting them for an interview with Guarantee Trust Bank for job openings at the level of Call Centre Agents for B.sc holders.

The rumoured job attracted a pay of N80,000 which sounds juicy to any unemployed Nigerian youth passing through the scathing phase of the current economic recession in the country.

The unconfirmed job interview/screening was scheduled for the following day at Resource Intermediaries Ltd, 18a, Elsie Femi Pearse Street, off Adeola Odeku street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Job-hunting youths who saw the invitation as a golden opportunity ignored any credible process of verification to blindly attend the scheduled interview in droves which later turned out to be false. Several well-dressed and good-looking Nigerian youths with brilliant qualifications were left stranded at the venue.

The rumoured job venue

"I weep for our dear Nation! A job placement from GTBank for call Centre agents with a salary of 80000 naira every month was circulated. Job-seekers came from all over the nooks and cranes of Nigeria. Gombe , kano etc. only to be told the Job vacancy publications didn't emanate from GTBank!" a social media user who posted pictures from the venue said.

"We live in a country were false hood is publicized to the highest!" the person concluded. Those who participated in the broadcast of the falsehood have since been apologizing.
