Purpose:
  • This position is responsible for developing HR strategies in alignment with the Organization’s Business strategies to produce superior performance and growth by developing standard, repeatable systems, processes, and capabilities that make it fast and easy for the company to enter upstream business and to enhance its growth strategy with staffing models that fit a modern workforce.
  • The Candidate for this position is to team up with other Senior business leaders to ensure alignment of the responsibilities as indicated below to achieve the strategic corporate vision of the organization with year on year delivery of business targets.

 Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
  • Leadership and commitment to improving Health, Safety, and Environmental performance, overall coordination of the HSE program within the company and drive the desired HSE culture to reach and sustain year on year HSE targets delivery.
  • Policy formulations, Standards and Procedures setting covering all aspects of Exploration and Production upstream business.
  • Develops and recommends new processes, procedures and approaches to safety and loss prevention based on incidents, accidents and labor laws and OSHA regulations.
  • Responsible for implementing, coordinating occupational safety and health programs utilizing knowledge of industrial safety guidelines for the workplace.
  • Works with all employees to instill a safe and environmentally conscientious work environment, determining the awareness level, communicating policies and procedures, advising on the best means of compliance and coaching to improve behavior as needed.
  • Provides HSE leadership to operations for safety related activities including confined space entry, hot work, lockout/tag out, and other safe work permits
  • Monitors HSE performance within operational areas and works with staff to develop and/or implement programs or processes to improve HSE behavior.
  • Develops and presents recommendations and advises all levels of management to ensure balance between productivity and the safety of team members, sub-contractors, and visitors.
  • Directs and supervises the activities of assigned personnel. Performs supervisory functions at the level established by Management for the position.

Competencies Required:
  • Sound knowledge of HSE Policies, Procedures and Standards with experience on incident investigation, auditing and risk analysis with deep knowledge of HSE Management System.
  • Track record of Achievements in HSE Policy implementation and Performance Management in Upstream Organization.
  • Exposure to technical operations with in-depth management of various projects activities across Exploration and Production activities and teams.
  • Management of paradigm shifts i.e. driving a change in behavior from reactive through calculative to proactive on the HSE culture ladder.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a culturally demanding environment and under pressure from changing external influences and security levels.
  • Previous work within safety committees or as a safety adviser in an IOC or similar organizations.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Education:    
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety & Health or Engineering. A Post Graduate degree would be an added advantage.    

Experience:    
  • HSE professional, with minimum of 15 years E&P experience, which five must be at a leadership role within the upstream sector of an Oil and Gas.
